Ted Cruz tosses red-meat to Duval Republicans

As he continues to the test the waters for a potential 2016 bid for the White House, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas made his pitch Friday night to the Republican Party of Duval County, one of the state’s largest local parties.

Sprinkled throughout his remarks was a common theme that most potential GOP presidential nominees have focused on: Obamacare.

“In 2017, a Republican president in the White House will sign legislation repealing Obamacare,” he said.

Cruz has built a national reputation as a firebrand conservative not afraid to mix it up with the establishment in his own party. In 2013, he grabbed headlines by speaking for 21-hours on the Senate floor about the need to defund Obamacare, an act that endeared him to many of the party’s conservative activists.

The red-meat issues that dropped Cruz on the national radar were on full display as he gave a keynote speech to a packed ballroom at the Jacksonville Hyatt Regency.

“We should abolish the IRS,” Cruz said to a loud ovation.

Duval County is home base for many large GOP donors and a big swath of Republican voters, but it could be tough for any non-Florida candidate to wrest that support away from bush-blitzkrieg/”>Jeb Bush or U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, both of whom are also considering presidential bids.

Bush has captured much of the attention, and money, in recent weeks and is seen by many as an early front-runner.

Yep. A LOT of water will have gone under the bridge regarding O-care by the election. A lot of fans of it are getting hit square between the eyes and it will only get worse by then.

The fact that not one R voted for it is absolutely devastating. And by 2017, any R that does not fight tooth and nail against it, well, if they were up for re-election in 2016, they will no longer be in office.

Obama put off the pain to a lot of people for as long as he could. That time came to an end this year as people filed their tax returns. It will be very bad, but wait until next year.

I almost see Obamacare as an attempt at a bloodless coup. It is that over the top.

By itself, maybe not, but taken with the other Marxist actions of the P.O.S. POTUS we have now, absolutely.

I am a staunch Cruz supporter and I sometimes wondered why just single out the IRS there are so many other gov’t communist criminal organizations that must needs be abolished, I wanted Cruz to go after them all.

Then it occurred to me the IRS is the life blood of all gov’t agencies, cut them off at the source, a simpler tax code would demand reassessment and allocation of funding making congress revisit the worthiness of all these communist programs, their effectiveness compared to cost would be damning.

Of course the democrats and rino’s would fight tooth and nail, but if Cruz is elected president with a conservative congress it could happen; some might say “Pie in the Sky”; but I’m sure in the not to distant past many dems would have said what we are seeing today (the fulfillment of their communist agenda) is “Pie in the Sky”, yet here we are.

If Cruz can make the case for abolishing Obamacare and amnesty, that covers 60-70% of the population. He wins!
