So when the people have a choice they get out of unions!!
Unions and the democrats do not want you to have a choice just like your healthcare.

FTA: The state branch of the National Education Association, once 100,000 strong, has seen its membership drop by a third. The American Federation of Teachers, which organized in the college system, saw a 50 percent decline. The 70,000-person membership in the state employees union has fallen by 70 percent.

I get a vision of some typical brain-dead union thug sitting at his table with a stack of communist-inspired protest signs, waiting for the revolution to show up.

And waiting ...

And waiting ...

Then finally going to Clancy’s and slugging down a couple of boilermakers before staggering home alone.

Walker is not my first choice for president but I appreciate the fact that he’s got the lefties going completely bonkers and loony far more than usual.

Can you name any other Republican who has both got the lefties going bonkers while also accomplishing something important?

He is the only one I can think of.

He has walked the talk. I like the guy a lot.

Crud, what Walker has done only applies to Public-sector unions.

You’d think unions were nearly extinct from the way this comes off

Go Scott!!

Public sector unions are the only unions that have been growing.

All the manufacturing unions priced themselves into exporting their own jobs.

Screw the unions. They overstepped and got greedy and drunk with power. They had it coming.

John Ahlquist, a University of Wisconsin political scientist who specializes in labor movements, said Walker had “effectively dismantled the financial and organizing structure of ---unions--- DEMOCRATS in Wisconsin.”

A groundskeeper at the veterans home complained that supervisors were no longer assigning overtime based on seniority

so seniority means sticking yer snout deepest into the trough and to hell with the rest

It has been particularly pronounced in rural areas, where public-sector jobs were some of the most prized gigs in town.

and there it is... a prize like wining the lottery

miserable wretches all

the once-thriving public-sector unions were not just shrunken — they were crippled.

Walker made the unions voluntaries for teachers and they voted with feet. He took away the unions privileges to withhold union dues from paychecks and gave the teachers the right to freely associate with the unions, or not. They decided that they didn't want to be a member of the union and that they had better uses for their own money.

The crying fest continues unabated and the unions are a shambles. It's amazing what happens when people are allowed the freedom to make their own decisions. Public unions are an unholy alliance between the union bosses and Democrat politicians and they are the only ones that benefit from the arrangement. Industry based unions have been on their way to extinction for a long time and it looks like the public sector unions may be soon following the same path. It is a wonderful thing.

the problem is that unions have not provided anything for the dues paid by it’s members. Then it got even more greedy and tried to force all home health care workers join. It backfired and caused a huge backlash. They got what they deserved.

Good reason to consider him for President. Just think what he could do with the FedGov unions in four years, starting with the Post Office.

>>that’s actually a pretty good piece. I don’t think that’s what the reporter intended, but it came out that way.<<

I agree. I was surprised to see it in the Post, or put another way, I was surprised how favorable the article turned out, considering it was in the Post.

The drop off in union membership was stunning and will only drop more as time goes on and more and more union members wonder why they’re wasting their money on dues. Essentially Act 10 took nearly all power away from public sector unions to negotiate terms of employment.

I think public sector employees in Wisconsin are going to find that, 10 years from now, they are working in better institutions, and are viewed more favorably by the general public.

This week in Wisconsin the legislature will take up a law to make the state a right-to-work state. It will pass, and Walker will sign it.

And we’ll probably be treated to more pictures of AFL thugs vandalizing the state capitol building, harassing the GOP legislators, and generally behaving like the Occupy Wall Street mob. It will be interesting to see if the public sector unions show up in force for this one.

thanks gov. walker. reversing leftism is the only chance this nation has. you’re one of the few conservatives to accomplish that, and on the enemy’s home ground to boot.

It’s not a question only for Walker. Cruz is for the legalization of those already here:

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/13/us/cruz-tries-to-claim-the-middle-ground-on-immigration.html?pagewanted=all

Snippet from the article:

What has not been as evident is what “he supports: legal status for millions of people here already, while making it easier for immigrants to come here through the front door”.

If you want a treat, you should read the comments at the WaPo site.

They look like a FReeper thread.

Every once in a while you'll get a nincompoop who will say "Thank Scott Walker for RUINING our children's educations!"

But they get shot down real quick.

Public sector unions are NOT popular.

If they were, why would so many people be dropping their memberships like a hot potato?

He has to get convincingly right on the wetback issue. Given his extant ambiguity and waffling I don’t think he can be convincing.

Single-issue declarations are not in our best interest - especially before we even have an official field. If that's your only issue, then try to think it through - even if he's not as tough as you want him to be, will he break laws and unilaterally force them on us? What about the other 237 agenda issues of anyone from the Left who gains the WH?

BTW - using the term "wetback" is so outre' these days. It says things about those who use it and gives our enemies fuel to burn.
