It is beyond me how anyone who claims to be a conservative could possibly embrace the concept of a “Hate Crime”. In a free society a crime is a crime. Do we really want our government to mete out harsher punishments because of the thoughts behind a crime?
The Progressives are pushing the concept of “Hate Crimes” because once that idea takes hold it’s a very short step to outlawing “Hate Speech”. They are already working hard on that, let’s not help them.
If a Muslim stabbed non-Muslims after asking if they were Muslim and these NON Muslims were homosexual, a ‘Trayvon Martin,gentle giant type’ or a female exercising her ‘Roe vs Wade right to choose’ would the crime be labeled a ‘Hate Crime’ or are Muslims at the ‘Top of the Charts’ of lefty victims groups???

The existence of the category of hate in our jurisprudence is a symptom of the unraveling of the Republic and liberty.
Having said that. I can't remember a SINGLE time "hate crime" charges have EVER been filed on a black or muslim criminal. Anyone? Please show me an example.
We might as well rename it to "persecuting whitey with additional charges crime". If it can't or won't be applied equally it is an unjust law and should be abolished. If I am ever a juror in a "hate crime" trial, I will refuse to prosecute based on the above.
The concept of Hate Crime is introduced into society as a way of having Institutionalized Protected Groups.
Muslims are one of the government-established Institutionalized Protected Groups.
By definition a Protected Group can only be a victim of a hate crime, never the perpetrator of one.
That’s what the term Hate Crime means.
Anyone who thinks otherwise is a harfwit.
Actually the FBI looked at the case to develop a reason NOT to call this a federal hate crime. Pukes - just a bunch of pukes - all of them.
With any luck they’ll set him free so justice may be served.
