NEW YORK – Advocates are struggling to get students to eat “healthy” lunches – even if they’re free.
It’s not too hard to see why. Timothy Martinez qualifies for free lunches, but he and his classmates often skip meals and go hungry because the cafeteria food at Bronx Academy of Letters is inedible, according to DNAinfo.
“When they serve us pizza, sometimes it’s not reheated all the way and you can see the frozen pieces in the dough,” Martinez says. “It’s the same thing with the taco meat. And they serve us ices instead of juice,” referring to the liquids still being frozen.

I spent a weekend in jail in the 90s (don’t ask). The food there looked better than what MO is peddling.

In fairness, you might find bugs in any food served out of a dirty cafeteria. That said, fresh fruit and vegetables are more likely to draw any type of infestation more so than frozen food that is popped in a hot box and warmed.
Healthy bugs in the food? I bet the food that Moochelle and Tasha eat doesn’t have bugs in it.

Why hasn’t there been a legal challenge of mrs. Obama’s foray into school lunch menu development? Under what authority was this program enacted and executed?
I don’t know about that. Their dad eats dog.
Maybe that’s why Moochelle is going to Japan, to learn how to cook sushi and Kobe beef for schoolkids. Yeah! ‘Weezy is movin’ on up....again!

There was a bill passed by congress in 2010 which caused all these changes in school lunches. Michelle pushed for it, but what we are seeing is the result of an act of Congress, passed by Congress and signed into law by the president.
Not saying it is good legislation; far from it in my opinion. Just saying that the school lunch headache was caused by passing a law.
Actually, bugs may be a sign of healthy food. Put out some store bought white flour next to some freshly ground wheat flour and see which the bugs go for first... This points to Moochelle’s concern for us having the best food she allows us to ingest... :/
no, it’l be to study the rice for lunches program.
All the left over rice at Chinese and japanese restaurants will be recycled to the schools where riceballs, fried or riceballs steamed, will become ppart of the lunch fare.
The trip is to learn how to make balls from the left over ricethat stick together properly
That may be the only high quality protein the kid gets!

If these healthy lunches,meals are so important, shouldn’t the White House be restricted to the exact same meals at all times??
