President Obama plans to send Labor Secretary Tom Perez to California to attempt to break the labor deadlock and end the shipping slowdown at 29 West Coast cargo ports, according to news reports Saturday.

Shipping has been subjected to delays during stalled contract negotiations between unions and the association representing shipping companies and port operators.

The White House says it is intervening because the strike has hurt imports and exports of many commercial goods, from citrus fruits to automobile parts, according to a Reuters report.

Just curious, has anyone ever just bought a bunch of waterfront land and made their own port to avoid these jackasses?

He w I’ll intervene on the side of the unions. From what I’ve read, dock workers are one- percenters or darn close, but they are PC , so no matter. Viva le NLRB! /S

In a sane world, all those containers in the picture would be filled with American-made products headed for overseas ports.

Robots. Then, those young people in California that want a good paying job, but don’t want to go to college, can go thank the union and the Democrat Party.
They need to quit calling it the Democrat Party and call it what it is.....the old hippy party trying to enslave younger generations.

I was thinking the same thing a few days ago when I heard about this. Why can’t a wealthy individual purchase waterfront and start his or her own port. Perhaps I may be wrong in my thinking, but if we produce our own food and products no need to ship them across the water. We would have everything here, but nooooo.
