I was concerned about Doug Ducey (R-GOPe) from the beginning. He had a lot of corporate money behind his campaign and was cozy with John McCain (always a red flag). And now we can see his true colors. He has been in office just over a month and has already further spread the fracture in the AZGOP with his actions that are very PRO-Common Core as well as reveals what appears to be a mandate to damage Tea Party-supported officials. Diane Douglas (R-Tea) was elected because she PROMISED to go after Common Core, and with these firings she made good on that promise immediately.

Arizonans should be VERY concerned about Gov. Ducey cozying up to Lisa Graham Keegan. Keegan was quoted in an article published in a leftist rag that is not allowed to be posted to Free Republic: "When you've got one elected official (Douglas) who's on, let's call it an 'independent trajectory,' as we saw — that's all right," she said. "Most everybody else is moving lockstep — not exactly in agreement on all the different (education) policy agendas, but on the fact that we all have rules to play here ... and we're going to play by those rules."

He is already proving me right. And McCain is not a red flag, he’s a black plague : )

I hate getting faked out by GOPe misrepresenting themselves!

I never saw any Tea Party warnings about him either here on FR or talk radio.

The concern may be well placed, but it’s not clear to me who’s in the right here. For example, one of Douglas’ big issues with Ducey appears to be his support for charter schools (aka school choice). If it were as simple as which do you support more (1) killing common core or (2) school choice, I’d take (2).

At the end of the day, the notion of intrusting education to the state alone is a bigger problem than precisely what they teach, as the state could forever manipulate education to achieve their agenda. If we have options, like charter schools, we can send our kids to schools that don’t use Common Core or whatever the taste of the month in education is.

Ducey pushed Douglas to this by excluding and marginalizing her. But she clearly overstepped her authority by doing this, a huge mistake, and now her position is greatly weakened.
