I was just commenting to a college girlfriend that pre-free love days women saved themselves for marriage....then came living together to make sure marriage would work, which meant less tolerance. Now in college many girls submit to lesbian and bisexual behaviors as the norm to experience and see which way makes them ‘feel’ the best. Next generation will probably gravitate to BSDM which I hear is already available in brothels in Europe and then they’ll all need extensive therapy to get through their past choices.

God is watching our choices even closer nowadays and I feel S&M is heading to S&G.

I don’t think we have to let this slide continue. There’s always going to be people who do a thing because it’s cool/brave/adventurous but increasingly we are being met with huge advertising budgets selling some woebegone broken down pile of poo. I know plenty of people who got burned by Twilight, but I don’t have any acquaintances who have read 50 Shades, more ominously there is no shortage of copies sitting on the shelf of the local library where there is still a waiting list for Harry Potter.

Believe me, the bdsm or whatever someone wishes to call it, has been available to those that are looking for it for a long time. It just wasn’t, I guess you could say, “mainstream”, like it is now. Pretty sad state of affairs. I lived in London in the early 60’s and heard tales of some of the things that could be “had” if you were so inclined. I wasn’t. I’m hopin’ the movie is a financial failure. I know it isn’t getting any of our money.

Actually there’s a fairly extensive BDSM subculture already in America. Has been since before the revolution. They’ve got clubs, for hire, even conventions. And they HATE 50 Shades. It doesn’t follow the rules of mutual consent that are very important in “the life”, it’s an abusive relationship. They’ve been pushing for a boycott of it for a long time, currently they’re on a drive requesting people donate a “date night” amount to a women’s shelter instead.

I wasn't around then. But I feel that maybe saving one's self was preached and claimed to be adhered to. But that there were lots of things considered to be immoral going on in secret.

True, many women saved themselves for marriage back them. I'd assume a lot less do now.

For sure, post free-love, these things are more out in the open and considered less taboo. But is premarital sex, marital infidelity, kink, etc really new to just our current generations?

Were there not brothels, cheating, womanizing, lying, homosexuality, and abuse before the 1960's? Wasn't prostitution legal for a long portion of our national history? Society accepts way more out in the open today to be sure. I can accept that society even encourages these behaviors post free-love. But I really don't think that basic human behavior has really changed that radically.
