I was just commenting to a college girlfriend that pre-free love days women saved themselves for marriage

I wasn't around then. But I feel that maybe saving one's self was preached and claimed to be adhered to. But that there were lots of things considered to be immoral going on in secret.

True, many women saved themselves for marriage back them. I'd assume a lot less do now.

For sure, post free-love, these things are more out in the open and considered less taboo. But is premarital sex, marital infidelity, kink, etc really new to just our current generations?

Were there not brothels, cheating, womanizing, lying, homosexuality, and abuse before the 1960's? Wasn't prostitution legal for a long portion of our national history? Society accepts way more out in the open today to be sure. I can accept that society even encourages these behaviors post free-love. But I really don't think that basic human behavior has really changed that radically.

My great-grandmom employed an unwed mother when no-one else would because of the stigma attached. Her family wouldn’t take her back and the other options of prostitution or starvation have been the reality for many women.
