A driver narrowly missed being injured when a chunk of concrete fell from a Beltway bridge onto a passing car Tuesday afternoon.
The driver, Katherine Dean, said she was driving on Suitland Road in Morningside, Maryland, when pieces of the overpass fell onto her car. The concrete smashed in Dean's windshield and hood, but she wasn't seriously hurt.

Maryland “Freak State” PING!
But Obamacare is working great in Maryland /Sarc
The infrastructure is literally falling apart. But we’re building roads, schools, and bridges for mudslimes that hate us.
Someone can now shovel up those pieces of broken bridge. Mission Accomplished
Republicans fault!! They oppose dear leaders’ jonesin’ to increase taxes and spending.. after all, barry DID say it was for infrastructure, roads, bridges, etc...
I can hear the news story on this already... blah, blah, blah..
Actually, there are two possibilities, I think. One, that the infrastructure fell apart. Two, that one of Obama’s sons was playing games, dropping a rock on a car. Regrettably, it is the kind of area where both such things happen.
translation: Gotta raise that gas tax NOW NOW NOW NOW or we’re ALL GONNA DIE!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAARRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
I thought we recently had a ~$1T stimulus bill for infrastructure projects.
Shovel ready.
Where did the money go?
Maintaining our infrastructure is just socialist spending, doncha know.
Something similar happened to me. A crew was working on an overpass and a walnut-to-plum sized chunk of concrete hit my windshield when I was doing about 45 MPH. Safety glass is a wonderful thing
“”Now THAT is one of those “shovel ready jobs” that we were promised for the low, low price of a trillion bucks.””
Absolutely true. Biden was supposed to oversee those funds and there’s not been one iota of information to the taxpayer of where it was spent - but spent, I’m sure it was!
Oh! I take that back. There was a pretty neat website put up and you could click on your state/area and see REQUESTS for those funds and the reason for them. As near as I could tell, the requests were made on BEHALF of agencies and if granted, allocated by a third party. Isn’t that cute - doesn’t take much to let a few million dollars slip through fingers, does it?
This administration has kept everyone on edge and Congress doesn’t know if it’s afoot or horseback in overseeing everything it should be overseeing.... Amazing what gets swept under the rug in DC.
Yes, I see now, the bridge is obviously for higher road taxes, so it dropped a non-load-bearing portion of concrete onto that poor woman’s car.
In all seriousness, I did not get anything at all out of that article about raising taxes on drivers.
“”Where did the money go?””
I’ve asked the same questions for years... Our illustrious VP was to be in charge of accounting for all that money. Wonder what his answer would be?
There was only a few tens of billions set aside out of the stimulus for the not-so-shovel-ready road jobs.
Many bridges and dams are past their life expectancies. The life expectancy of many dams are 50 years and many were built by the CCC in the 1930s and there was another big push in the 1950s. We're living on borrowed time.
Only a few tens of billions were designated for highway repairs.
Here’s one....Hold on and I’ll look for others...
Well, I guess this answers both of our questions so no sense in looking for more:
States have been diverting highway taxes and funds for decades. They have journaled billions to their general accounts in order to pay for welfare/socialist programs.
Now the neglect of roads and bridges is hitting the fan. States will now issue billion dollar bonds backed by increased middle class taxes to finance their diversion.
Socialism is a ponzi scheme - look at the unions and public sector defined benefit programs, same thing here, the sh*t is hitting the fan and taxes are increased to bail it out.
It seems Post #17 is correct...... I’d still like to see an accounting of the total $$$ package.
