Joe Manchin: Coward or Two-Faced?
conservativereview.com ^ | 2/9/15 | Daniel Horowitz

Posted on 02/09/2015 7:11:05 AM PST by cotton1706

Joe Manchin (D-WV) wants everyone to know he really opposes Obama’s amnesty.

He really is a moderate and so distressed by Obama’s radical takeover of his party. In fact, he is so upset with Obama’s unconstitutional amnesty that he is willing to do anything to stop it…well, anything except for something that would actually stop it.

Manchin told National Review’s Joel Gehrke that Obama “overstepped his bounds,” but he doesn’t want to defund it through the DHS appropriations bill – the only must-pass bill that will actually force the issue. He contends that the Senate should just bring up a separate immigration bill. When asked how that would force Obama’s hand, NRO reports: “after pausing a few seconds, Manchin said he had to go and exited the Capitol.”

And therein lies the broader artifice of Joe Manchin.

You see, he is a Democrat who represents West Virginia’s values and is willing to break with his party – except for when it counts.

When it comes to amnesty he has always been in the tank for Obama. Not only did Manchin vote for the Gang of 8 amnesty bill in 2013, he even voted against a provision requiring that a visa tracking system be implemented before any amnesty is granted. What’s worse, he opposed an amendment to block the issuance of Obamacare benefits for illegal aliens. That’s a pretty amazing feat, even for a double talking politician who campaigned against amnesty and Obamacare.

But these are all policy disagreements.

"Manchin will have to explain to his constituents why he stood by cloddishly and sheepishly while his party leader shredded our constitution and let thousands of dangerous criminals out of jail so they can enjoy some of the same benefits as West Virginias."

No he won't! Do you think anyone in the mainstream press is going to call him out on it? Not a chance. He's shown to be your average double talk politician who will do or say anything to get elected. The only thing the mainstream press will do is publish his statements on how he wants to get "tough" on immigration.

He wants a separate immigration bill along with all the corporatist RINOs so they can codify their own amnesty instead.

Its so transparent, its pathetic.

Manchin’s act is getting old. He tells West Virginia voters how he disagrees with those crazy liberals in Washington, how he’s for everything they are for, he shoots a bullet through regulations but that’s about all he does. After making a lot of noise, he pretty much does what his party leaders tell him to do. Every once in a while they let him vote against the party to build up his “independent” credibility but its never when it counts.

Manchin is playing poker. If it appears that the 2016 senate race will be close he may switch parties - if Mcconnell will offer him a good deal.

Just another democrat in a state that’s become Conservative attempting to appear “moderately conservative” so he can keep his seat while working to advance the socialist democrat agenda.

"if Mcconnell will offer him a good deal."

McConnell should be Micheael Corleone and Manchin should be Senator Geary. You can have my answer now Senator. My offer is nothing and I expect you to put up the money for the gambling license....

Pelosi and Reid are just sitting back laughing planning on the next term 2017 when they have control of congress again.

I predict that Manchin will sooner or later declare himself an Independent or perhaps a Republican and run for another term as West Virginias Governor.

Ah come on. Everybody in Washington knows that Manchin has the courage of a “GERBIL”. That’s why he is in the senate. Show me a senator, other than Ted Cruz, that has “COJONES” bigger than a mustard seed, and I’ll truly will be surprised.

Manchin’s Congress' act is getting old. It is all about power and almost all are in on it with the Regime. The people's voice be damned.

AMEN! Someone needs to challenge this stooge to put up or STFU. WV should get rid of him. He talks like a Conservative to get elected and votes with the Democrats nearly all the time.
