More than 120 lawmakers say they've vaccinated their children

More than 120 lawmakers reached by NBC News said that their children have all been vaccinated, as politicians continue to clarify their stances with a measles outbreak spreading across the western United States.

NBC found that 121 lawmakers had vaccinated their children, while 33 additional do not have any kids. The rest, outside of seven who declined to share the information, did not respond.

Public health officials continue to fight a measles outbreak that’s spread to 14 states, according to the CDC, most of them linked to exposure from Disneyland Park in California.

Officials and doctors have urged parents to vaccinate their children in order to prevent the disease from spreading and their children from getting sick, but the debate has shed light on some who believe that vaccines could cause autism or have other negative effects. Scientific studies have disproven that link.

Two possible GOP presidential candidates, Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.) and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, received considerable negative attention this week for comments stressing that vaccinations were a parental choice and that suggested there could be some dangers with vaccines.

Paul said he’d heard about children who had “wound up with profound mental disorders after vaccines.”

Christie quickly backed away from his initial comments with a clarification emphasizing the importance of vaccinations, while Paul ended up tweeting a picture of himself getting vaccinated.

Ah, I see trying to blame the anti-vaxx movement on those "Fundy" right wing Republicans continues, despite overwhelming evidence this is driven by liberal hippy dippy families in Marin county.

Btw, if you want to screw with your liberal friends spouting off about this, accuse them of being a tool of Big Pharma, who is obviously behind the movement to use their vaccines.

There are 535 members of Congress.

535 - 33 = 502

502 - 121 = 381

(381/502)*100 = 76%

Therefore, three out of four Congress critters do not vaccinate their children, and they don't want you to know about it, and they exempted themselves and their families from Obamacare.

That's the math. Believe what you want.

“Citizens, we have discovered there are those among us that refuse to obey the edict and decree of the kingdom. They claim they are not of our kingdom, but of another Kingdom, ruled by another King of their own!”

“We have been informed that they declare our decree of authority over their bodies for the empire’s sake, are their own bodies ordained are by their own King, to do as they wish, refusing to be bought and sold to secure the riches of our storehouses.”

“They claim openly our decree is an act of extortion, and go about stirring up trouble in our very streets, calling themselves Christians!”

“I ask you here today, what shall do concerning these acts of rebellion?”

“Death! death! death!”

Given the questionable intellect of U.S. lawmakers, is that an endorsement of vaccination or not?

And what about the congresspeople and their spouses??? All had titers done to see if they are Immune?? Bet they didn’t.

How stupid is this “herd immunity” if you only count the people under 18? Anyone vaccinated decades ago surely doesn’t have complete immunity.

Look, it's foolishness to be dismissive of the ability of vaccination to save a population from a debilitating disease.

At best, concerns about vaccinations are subjective, given the year and source of manufacture along with the inactive ingredients used to preserve the serum.

Vaccinations need to be introduced to the individual in phases, along a carefully defined staged schedule to allow the individual to adjust to the inoculation and it's specific contents.

And even with vaccinations, one shoe does not fit every foot. There are people who are likely not to benefit from the serum. That's a given under any circumstance.

Vaccinations are a strategic solution to a bio-hazard threat, derived to provide maximum benefit to the population and requires mass manufacture of the formula most likely to work for the most people.

And I do believe there are individuals who have had terrible experiences with them. I mourn their suffering, this stuff is supposed to help. However on an equal basis it's almost inhumane given the known horrors inflicted on mankind by contagious disease to risk exposure to said affliction where there are proven preventative measures.

People need to understand the situation and make educated decisions based on the evidence at hand.

For myself with my travels, I am fully inoculated as is my family.

On the other hand, we do not get the flu shot. I've never had an experience where the flu shot didn't make me severely ill and I can't afford a 1-2 week outage on a regular basis. I'd rather have the flu for 2-5 days once every 3 or 4 years.

I spoke to one of my friends of my experiences with the flu and they were kind of skeptical. Not critical but to that date their experiences were not negative. Then in 2014 they went for the current flu shot and with 24 hours they were so sick they were out for a week. He told me "never again", although given this was his first bad incident it was possible he already had the flu and the contents of the serum may have been enough to overwhelm his body's defenses.

Anyway, it's all subjective to the individual, but we must keep in mind the devastation wrought on humanity by infectious disease.

Let's avoid building that bridge to the late middle ages while we can. I mean the government is busy building bridges to the depression era, the 1917 Communist Revulsion (better description) and the rise of the National Socialist state, let's avoid pestilence while we can, shall we?

For twenty-two years....I was ‘forced’ to take the yearly flu shot by the Air Force. Typically, the twenty-four hours after the shot...I always had a fever and felt run-down. Over the twenty-two years....I suffered around twenty bouts of the flu anyway...mostly the twenty-four to forty-eight hour bug. I’ve had the serious five-to-seven day bug once in that entire period.

When I retired in 1999 from the military...I said ‘enough’ and refused to take the shot. In fifteen years, I’ve had two minor bouts of flu, without the shot.

Maybe it’s just luck, but I simply don’t buy into flu shot having any effective nature. Course, I won’t say that for the tetanus shot, or any of the three or four shots I had as a kid (polio for example). I still think they have legit positives. The other forty new types of vaccinations? I’m not sure about. After the military’s use of the anthrax vaccination...I don’t buy into the gimmick. Same for Ebola, as we’ve proven that you can get first class care, with drugs already available on the market, keep ourselves hydrated, and survive without a vaccination.

” twenty-four to forty-eight hour bug.”

No such thing. If you mean the stomach virus, it is not the flu.

I agree, it's all subjective to the individual and the nature of the serum used. Many folks may be more susceptible to the contents of the serum than the actual disease. OTOH, on the whole, we've benefited incredibly as a society from advances in vaccinations. It's just not always right answer in some cases.

The flu shots are one such scenario. It's a best guess in trying to fight a new strain so effectiveness is a gamble at best. Some people may benefit or be entirely unaffected, where others are impacted more by the other inactive contents of the serum. t

To be fair, a non-response does not mean they have not had their children vaccinated.

If I was in congress, I would not talk to ABC “news”.
