At the National Prayer Breakfast, President Obama reminded attendees that violence rooted in religion isn’t exclusive to Islam, but has been carried out by Christians as well.

~snip~

“Unless we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ,” Obama said. “In our home country, slavery and Jim Crow all too often was justified in the name of Christ.”

Only an unreconstructed, God hating leftist would use muslim atrocities to criticize Christianity.

Darn it!

Well, I guess I will have to repeat it here.

The Only Reason That Happened was because they got the Drop on us Jews.

Yeah, but at least you got the cushy chair treatment instead of becoming a human torch in a cage.

Crusades = 700-900+ years ago.
Inquisition = 500-800+ years ago
Slavery (in US) = 150+ years ago
Jim Crow = 50+ years ago (NOTE: I never heard the name of Christ used to justify Jim Crow)

Butchery and Slaughter in the name of Islam = Inception to PRESENT

The Crusades were a defensive move against militant Islam, which had overtaken the Christian and Jewish holy places and killed and held captive thousands of Middle Eastern and European Christians.

The Spanish Inquisition was initially a response to the unorthodox teaching and practice found in Spain after hundreds of years under Islamic domination, when many parts of Spain no longer had bishops or any regular religious instruction for the few surviving Christians. It focused primarily on the clergy, and its requirements for testimony were considered quite fair and modern for the time.

However, because of an attempt actually meant to make it more objective by appointing a separate authority not based in Rome, the Inquisition unfortunately ended by becoming more highly politicized, to the point where not even the Popes (who tried several times) were able to stop it, and it was then used by the Court for eliminating its enemies.

He has to go away from modern times for that one. Meanwhile Democrats kill babies through abortion. They cheer on for life those who earned the death penalty in prison and so forth.

Up is down. Down is up.

Obama reminded attendees that violence rooted in religion isn’t exclusive to Islam

But...but...I thought ISIS wasn't Islamic. I'm confused.

There were many things done in the name of Christ, which have been repudiated widely by almost all sects that claim to have Christian roots. Once there had been found a basis for slavery somewhere in the Old Testament, but Christians, by and large, have pretty much stopped using any Scriptural basis for justifying any kind of subjugation of others, and in fact, have been in the forefront of making a careful interpretation of both the Old and New Testaments that preach to forgiveness and redemption.

There is not, anywhere, anything like the “Golden Rule” in the Koran, and Muslims are FORBIDDEN to even refer to any other religious writings not based on interpretations of the Koran, and the Koran alone. They do not even include any version of the Decalogue, and any mentions of such a Mosaic code is only by oblique references, and that only toward other Muslims.

Islam is no more of an “Abrahamic” religion than Wicca, and like Scientology, pretty much made up out of whole cloth by a single person, perhaps afflicted with a crippling mental disorder, which would be recognized today as schizophrenic paranoia.

Note how liberals always have to go back hundreds of years to find abuses by Christianity. All they ever bring up are the Inquisition and the Crusades.

By the grace of God, they were stopped by St. Aleksandr Nevsky in the Battle on the Ice.

The demise of the Teutonic Knights is magnificently portrayed in Sergei Eisenstein's classic silent film "Alexander Nevsky".

You probably already knew that, but I could not resist mentioning it. It is one of my favorite [truly old] movies, and one of my favorite moments from Russian History.

He has all but greenlighted additional ISIS immolations by implying that what they did to that Jordanian pilot was but payment-in-kind.

You hit the nail on the head.

He’s a phony Christian. He had a political conversion and was connected to a former muslim’s sham church to ‘connect’ with the black church going community.

He told his homo supporters in San Francisco that he would have to say some things to win the voters in flyover country who ‘cling to religion’. It was a wink and a nod that he doesn’t believe that mumbo jumbo.
