NBC News anchor Brian Williams faced swift, and often harsh and sarcastic, reaction Wednesday after he recanted a story that he was aboard an Army helicopter that was hit with enemy fire in Iraq and forced to land.
The longtime NBC News journalist apologized in an interview with Stars & Stripes, saying he had misremembered what happened. He was actually in another nearby helicopter.
I would not have chosen to make this mistake, Williams told the newspaper. I dont know what screwed up in my mind that caused me to conflate one aircraft with another.
The story drew immediate scorn online, where critics including veterans and retired baseball star Curt Schilling questioned how it would have been possible to make that mistake.

It doesn’t amaze me how Dan Rather & Brian Williams have been been busted lying and are now “sorry” (that they got caught).
The entire MSNBC lineup is made of liars as is CNN. It’s even hard to stomach FoxNews at this point when you have shrills like Megyn and “Shep” babbling about.
He didn’t cork screw in like Mrs Clinton?
Don’t forget NBC doctored the tape of the Zimmerman 911 call to make him look like he targeted TM because he was black.
Hildabitch will just say that she remembered she was on the same plane as williams when she was shot at, and since he apologized there is no need for her to do so.
Say what? True dat.
I’m sure it was on account of his PTSD. He has suffered hypoxia on many occasions from having his head so far up the Clinton’s and Obummer’s asses.
misremembered
I remember when we used to call that LYING.
We are all talking here about what a loser Williams is...and for good reason. But the story happens because some of our soldiers came forward with the truth! Hat tip to the soldiers!!’
Saying that he ‘misremembered’ makes the lie even more egregious. Lying about a previous lie rarely does any good, and it reveals even more about Williams, who should be laughed off the air. (Yeah, right...) It’s simply unbelievable that a sane, rational human being can ‘remember’ something that didn’t happen, especially something with the potential for emotional trauma.
It’s similar to another outrageous ‘mistake’. Who could possibly mistakenly utter the phrase ‘my Muslim faith’, unless there was basis in fact? I know that I could never even formulate that phrase, or ‘my Catholic faith’ or any other religion of which I have no belief.
These are Freudian lies that reveal much about the professional liars who uttered them.
misremembered...”I would not have chosen to make this mistake,
What a stupid thing to say. Just apologize and say nothing more. You were caught in a lie, now you’re making it worse. Apparently we are left to believe that he’s a pathological liar. That’s not great to hear about a news anchor.
Just remember, we have always been at war with East Asia...
You mentioned Madame Benghazi and her fake snipers at her airport arrival. Wonder how long it will take the MSM to mention that. Can’t they help their brother Brian with the very common “everyone does it” narrative? Oh, but this might put the Madame in a bad light. Never mind.
Understood. But the one thing you have to remember is that litter box will develop one hellacious ammonia stench you can smell from the next room, if it isn’t cleaned regularly.
In that respect, I don’t think this is one that’s going to get cleaned because he ‘misremembered’ - which is dissembling, not coming clean.
“Fake But Accurate” Dan and “Miss Remember” Brian.
What a pair.
What about ANDREA MITCHELL? Maybe she could ease up on a real hero like King Abdullah and give some commentary on how Brian Williams could “misremember” taking enemy fire in a helicopter....
The “self-importance” factor afflicts media personalities as much as, or more than, it afflicts politicians and academia. None of these fields lend themselves to humility, so at some point they will be cast down and humiliated.
You forget this is the enemedia and they have neither shame or Integrity.
Mistake?
How about liar?
