And apparently that isn't good enough for these do-gooders. They think your freedom to use your property ends if it's anywhere near their property.
Any decent Conservative is willing to accept some inconvenience or unpleasantness. I don't insist on my world being perfect and exactly the way I want it. What I do expect, is that FREEDOM and PROPERTY RIGHTS be respected.
The guy built a gun range? I say "Good on him".
I don’t want to hear that next door. There is a thing called courtesy. In this state it’s packed in certain areas. And if he’s on less than an acre I frown upon this exercise.
Likewise how about the outbursts/gunblasts when they reach my ear drums?
This is for certain going to end up in court. You’ve got two property rights in conflict. I don’t want to hear gunfire all Saturday and Sunday from the next door neighbor. I like guns, but this guy is thoughtless.
“The guy built a gun range? I say “Good on him”. “
He built a small mound of dirt. He is an uncourteous idiot.
I live about 1/4 mile from a very much used Skeet and trap range. Fortunately the shots are 180 degrees away from my house. I knew it going in, and love to hear it. “The sound of freedom” I tell people.
That being said, it can be loud at 1/4 mile away. I cannot imagine having a gun range at my house or next to my house. The guy is an idiot. I can also start a farm and do anything I want on my land. It would be dumb to do so though. Just because you “can” do something doesn’t mean you should.
I am an infantry veteran, I’m not afraid of guns, mortars, cannons, or explosions of any sort.
“They think your freedom to use your property ends if it’s anywhere near their property.”
____
If the gun range owner has an absolute right to any use of his property, why build a gun range? Why not just set up cans on a stump and fire away anywhere on his property, at any time he wants?
I’m in Tampa. The lots around here are typically 55-70 feet wide. The homes will be 8-10 feet apart.
The law around here is you can shoot if you are in the county (vs city) and the round impacts on your land.
Your right to do what you want ends at your lot line. Impact my land or my family and you’d best be prepared for highly accurate return fire.
“Your freedom to swing your fist ends at my nose.”

You don’t actually have to hit my nose. Just swing at it pal. Make a move. My nose or any of my neighbors
Chances are you will get the beatdown you deserve.
In case you miss the obvious reference here; this applies to shooting near our children too.
No man can use his property to endanger or damage his neighbor. That has been the law for centuries.
"Decent Conservative", dude, I love how you're throwing out that term as if anyone who doesn't meet your criteria of "True Conservative" somehow disqualifies him from from being one......
I don't know what conservatives YOU'RE thinking about but any such Conservative usually has common sense and courtesy for his fellow neighbors. I for one don't wish to hear my next door neighbor shooting off his firearms in his back yard, especially when I may be taking a nap, talking on the phone or anything else that I may be doing.
You want a backyard firing range, fine, buy a house out in the country, I'll come join you when I can. Until then, go to the firing range or out in the country, not in your backyard NEXT TO MY HOUSE!...........
Sheesh, I can't even believe you would post such inconsiderate nonsense........
As an addendum to my prior comment, if YOU were my neighbor and decided to exercise your right to turn your back yard into a gun range, I would then exercise my right to set off loud fireworks outside your bedroom window about 2:00 a.m. every morning......
Any decent conservative shouldn't have a problem with my love for fireworks in the early morning hours, right?
If he had built one in his basement, that might have made a lot more sense... and been a lot more below the radar.
