The Jewish community in Cornwall, Britain, expressed anger over the weekend after a local village agreed to reinstate a sign saying Hitlers Walk, the BBC reported.
The sign for a park overlooking the village Mevagissey was taken down by the now-defunct Restormel Council in 2005 after complaints that it was inappropriate.
Now, however, Mevagissey Parish Council has ordered a new sign, saying that is what local people call the park, according to the BBC.
The park, located on a sloping site a little smaller than a football pitch at the top of Polkirt Hill, was named in the 1930s after a dictatorial local councillor, who was nicknamed Hitler.

In a way, if you think about it... it was named that not in honor of Hitler but for exactly the opposite. It’s like saying that the “Soup Nazi” was Sinfield TV show was honoring Nazies. The term was used in the show to offend the “Soup man” not to honor the the Nazies.
Jerks gotta be jerks. This is much bigger than a sign. This is an opportunity for these inbred village degenerates to show their true colors. Jews are no good, while Muzzies who hack British soldiers to death in broad daylight on a public street are OK. May they reap what they sow. British Jews with any sense will pick up on the growing tide of antisemitism in Britain and Europe and move their intelligence, education, and assets either to Israel or the U.S. Only thing is, the U.S. under Odungo seems to prefer ignorant, illiterate resource-sucking illegals to educated legal immigrants who can make a contribution TO the U.S.
Seems rather mocking of both hilter and the councilman.
Whomever is complaining doesn’t understand British humor.
I respectfully disagree. See post above.
If it’s truly a joke, now that they know how deeply offended the Jews are, they will quickly withdraw the name change.
Werner Klemperer, received criticism for playing Col Klink in Hogan’s Heroes. But he accepted that role only under the condition that the character of Klink be portrayed as a bumbling, vain, clueless fool. His father was Jewish and it was his intention to portray the nazis in a deragatory negative light.
1-—You think the men who killed Rigby are OK with British people?. Really?.
2—The sign was about a man who people said was like Hitler!.
3—The 2014 ADL global antisemitism study found the UK to be the 6th LEAST anti-Semitic nation on earth, one AHEAD of the US.
Outstanding analogy. That is certainly how the name originated.
Of course, the current restoration of the name might not be innocent humor. Briton has switched sides since the 1930's.
The humor depends on everybody understanding the joke, and once it is explained, reasonable people will go “Oh, I see” but not everybody will, and some have difficulty shaking the memory of the actual Hitler away.
Why not call it something positive like Victory Walk.
In part it is a problem of incomplete faith on the part of the Jews in their Lord’s promises.
If there is something important to know about the Lord it is that He follows through on offers accepted. If they lay dangling, then He often does little or nothing.
If the Holocaust’s screaming horrors did nothing more, they pressed a lot of Jews into getting religion who would have otherwise assimilated and fizzled out into secular culture in a couple generations. That is the silver lining in that hellishly dark cloud. In fact if not for it, there would have been no urgent need seen for a Land of Israel.
I wonder if the surname Hitler is in use anymore.
“Why not call it something positive like Victory Walk.”
I don’t necessarily disagree. I would probably never have named it that for the reason you cite.
But some things are local decisions. They say it is a joke; it’s plausible, and it’s their call.
I would recommend they rename it “Mini-Hitler’s Walk” so people get the joke better. Or something more clearly mocking, but, regardless, I have more pressing matters to which to attend.
Now, I need to go walk my dogs Mohammed and Allah. Where are those little bitches?
I understand it was kind of made up.
I think his real name was Shicklgruber or some such.
I’ve heard it said that it was invented by mistake by Alois, Adolf’s father, by mis-spelling “Heidler”.
Here’s a link to a picture of the sigh

Also, if the holocaust had never happened, the United Nations vote to create the State of Israel would never have passed if a sufficient number of countries hadn't felt just a passing tinge of sympathy for a people who had just been through genocide. And after the State of Israel was created, most of the Jews of the Middle East moved there pretty quick as well.
Not true, the League of Nations policies were all adopted by the UN and among them was 1922 creation of land for Jews. In fact that document gave Israel more land than its got now.
