The city has lawyers on staff who get a salary whether they’re in court or not. They could have easily waited out this chump until his lawyer gave up knowing he was never going to see a payday on this case. They’re just lazy government employees, no different than some drone at the DMV.....

Even if it saves money on an individual case to settle, it’s both immoral and costly. If NYC had a policy of paying legitimate settlements but fighting until everyone dies of old age for nuisance lawsuits, no one would file frivolous claims like this one. By settling, they have encouraged a lot more of these groundless lawsuits.
