The commanding officer of the Navy base at Guantanamo Bay was relieved of duty Wednesday due to a loss of confidence in his ability to command, the Navy said.
Officials reportedly said hes under investigation in connection with an alleged affair with a woman on the base and the recent death of her husband.
Capt. John R. Nettleton has been temporarily reassigned to the staff of Commander, Navy Region Southeast in Jacksonville, and replaced on an acting basis by Capt. Scott Gray, the chief of staff of that installation, the Navy said in a statement.

How many four-stripers do they have aboard there?
great, so now Hollywood can make another anti military, anti Christian Guantanamo movie.
The Dems/communists are pulling out all stops to try to close Gitmo down I guess because they want to present our base as a gift to Castro.
Interesting- supposedly her husband’s body was found in the bay but this is not the first time someone associated with Gitmo ended up missing or dead in the water and the previous time was doubtless before this commander came on board.
That case is still unresolved as well.
Obama wants to release the al Qaeda prisoner who is the link between the 9/11 hijackers of the Hamburg cell who are associated with meetings with the Iraqi regome of Saddam Hussein’s mukhabarat in the time leading up to 9/11.
A CO having an affair? I’m shocked! Shocked I say! What’s next? The Chief’s too?
One less.
There is very little connection between naval base Guantánamo Bay and the detention facility at Guantánamo Bay. The detention facility is just a tenant
My guess is that Castro’s goon killed the husband to help create a scandal to ease the commander out.
Because the most important thing is to keep the jihadis alive and in good spirits.
This sounds like a murder investigation serious enough to remove the man from duty.
“All you did was weaken a country today, Kaffee.”
I would think he'd be ...
what ?
Oh ...
THAT kind of relieved.
ne'er mind
I don’t believe any of this or the “official” report.
I think the CO did not have three flavors of ice cream for dessert and the murdering terrorists complained.
Is it just me - ? Or does it seem like more heads then ever are rolling in military leadership for sudden revelatory character-based scandals? And isn’t it too often and too convenient? I mean all taking place on the O from the Pit’s watch? During the glorious “fundamental transformation”. I dunno. Just seems like some real screwy crap is going on. I know I’m not coming out of LEFT field, but - seriously - WTH?
Must have addressed the true nature of the prisoners too much.
I’m shocked. No faster way to flush your career than to stick your dick in some other guy’s wife. Not that people haven’t tried and gotten away with it, but that and heavy boozing are pure poison for Naval officers.
No more common way to flush it too.... sure enough, Nettleton appears to have bumped off the guy.
