Over 100 protesters marched through Oakland on Sunday against police brutality. The demonstrators held signs and blocked traffic while being followed by dozens of cops from the Oakland Police Department.

The protest was mostly peaceful, but there were some tense moments and three demonstrators were detained by officers.

The demonstrators held signs that read: "Black Lives Matter," noted USA Today.

About 50 demonstrators performed a "die-in" outside a local Walmart and chanted "poverty is violence," while 100 people disrupted shopping in Emeryville, California, by blocking traffic and yelling, "Stop shopping. Shut it down."

The protests were planned to coincide with Martin Luther King Day.

"A lot of stores are capitalizing on Martin Luther King by calling for people to shop at MLK Day sales," stated protester Pete Woiwode. "But what he was actually calling for was an end to racism, militarism, and capitalism."

There were also protests on Saturday, which resulted in four people being arrested. According to ABC7 News, the demonstrators marched for Mike Brown and Eric Garner, both killed by police in 2014.

*** Two protesters were arrested for blocking subway doors and banging their spoons on subway cars.

Yes, but you "demonstrators" being disruptive -- is what makes the public at large support police brutality.

It’s a much improved version for interstate highway use. Can you imagine driving it in rush hour traffic?

At least protester Pete Woiwode admits he’s only there just because he’s a communist.

If you are dealing with protesters, might as well go all out.

“Marxists at work.”

Yup. Notice most of these protesters are white. They are just Marxists and Anarchists using this as an excuse to agitate. They will do anything to take down the system.

Truly, any disruptions in the Bay Area are of no concern to me.

At least not of visible concern to you. Lots of those shoppers in Emeryville who had their shopping disrupted, are creators. They create and make the goods that others enjoy. Lots of tech and medical goods included. If biotech gets shut down, good luck on getting those miracle cancer treating drugs (one of my daughters works at Genentech, whose cancer drugs are keeping my wife alive). Tech in the Bay Area is responsible for lots of Internet miracle products. The list of innovative products is huge. Still think it's of no concern to you? It's not all libs living here, as lots of normal family types have to put up with the lib nonsense. There are conservatives here who create and build.

Kalifornia is a primary conduit of evil, corruption, and wetbacks to the rest of the nation.

Whatever miniscule good they may contribute is negated by destroying Colorado, Oregon, Wash State, ad infinitum..

It looks like I’m not going to change your mind, so I won’t try. Just getting tired of folks spreading malicious stereotype lies about California. First of all, Wash DC is the primary conduit of evil and corruption in the nation. I’ve been there and seen it, it stinks and it’s a filthy place. As for wetbacks, plenty are coming up through Arizona and Texas to the rest of the nation. The ones who come up into California are migrants who go back and forth for the jobs. Lots of them leave as well as come. Can’t say the same for those coming up through the other states. As for Colorado, Oregon and Wash State they’re doing a fine job destroying themselves. I’ve been to all three of them and I never saw so many useless hippies, more than I’ve ever seen in California. Remember, California gave the nation Reagan. It used to be republican until transients came here from elsewhere and ruined it. Some of us haven’t given up on it, and are trying to flip it back to conservatism.
