How a country that is serious about the blight of drugs on society takes care of business.

Indonesia is a Mooselimb country, the largest, in fact. Indonesia sucks.

I realize there are those who think Islam has its strong points, that blasphemy should be illegal, etc. Those folks suck, too!

They have warning signs all over the place, someone who ignores them deserves no sympathy.

I wonder what the penalty is for stealing cigars and assaulting a sales clerk?

Note: The Indonesian woman executed, Rani Andriani has a very Christian sounding name.

Anyone want to to bet that none of those put down were Muslim? Anyone want to bet that Indonesian jails are full of Muslim drug dealers?

Good question. What is Indonesian law on capping the odd enormous, aggressive shoplifter? Inquiring minds would like to know.

The obvious answer is, the shoplifter should be dead.

But the real answer is the shop clerk likely violated the law by being armed.

Indonesia sucks.

I personally think they both got what they deserved. A lot of Asian countries have the death penalty for drug running. Don’t go to other countries and break the laws and expect you embassy to bail you out when you break the local laws.

I have spent over half of my adult life outside of the US....I have to commit that people don’t grasp the single biggest rule....where you go, you are a guest of that government, their laws, and can enjoy great things as long as you are acting as a guest should. Unacceptable behavior? Well, if you aren’t bright enough to grasp that....you won’t see much past prison walls or a death sentence in a number of countries. For ninety-nine percent of us....we know how to act.

Well put; years ago I visited the Bahamas, and they made it very clear that people shouldn’t attempt to bring drugs into the country. I couldn’t understand how people would risk so much when they weren’t protected by US law/Bill of Rights (a large majority of their tourists are American).

Trying it in a Muslim country is even crazier.

Spot on. Between being an Army brat, being in the service myself, and retiring overseas, I’m close pretty close to half my life outside the US. You break the laws of the country you’re in, then don’t be surprised when you face the penalty. Remember the kid in Singapore 10+ years ago that was caned for spray painting cars? Bet he never did it again. (Because of the duty paid on importing cars to Singapore, he caused about 200k+ in property damage; but the msn would never report that).

I have lived here in Indonesia off-and-on, mostly on, since ‘95. Indonesia does not, in fact, “suck.” While it does have a myriad of problems, there are much worse places to live.

Thank you!

I’ll never understand WHY these people think they have some right to treat another nation as an extension of their own.

Not fair counting the duty. That would be a reason to cane the government! We need more of that!

The Netherlands has a large minority opposed to Islamofascism and the Muzzie-ation of the Netherlands and the EU -- but the gubmint objects to the snuff of some dope thug, simply because the EU has a "no death penalty" rule that it tries to impose on the rest of the world. Brazil, well, the regime there is just upset that it won't get its usual cut from that thug.
