Getting a spending freeze would be nearly impossible these days
If we had a conservative president with as little regard for the rule of law as the thug currently in our White House, he could simply use discretion and not spend 10% or more of appropriated funds. That won’t work though because conservatives have too much integrity to impose their will that way, like kings. It’s unfortunate, but I don’t think there is a peaceful path back to constitutional government.
Thomas Jefferson had a quote about the tree of liberty. I keep hoping it’s not that time yet, but I’m not optimistic.
