“Ya know? I don’t think I like the Capital Gains Tax, either..! Hello, IRS..? I’m your boss, and I’m commanding you to NOT COLLECT any capital gains tax...uh...cuz I don’t like it, yeah.”

"a local bank that gets bought by Wells Fargo or Bank of America"
Are there any large banks that don't engage in this practice?

Following the argument required a lot of link-jumping and getting jumped by links, but I gradually got the idea that the banks in question are being "leaned on" by legal staff at National Credit Union Association, consumer affairs division staff at FDIC and other regulators. It's a gang rape by regulatory nannies set in motion somehow by the Regime.
The missing piece is, how did Obama induce these back-office drones to start stinging businesses on the Regime hit list?
I don't shed many tears for the porn industry, but these regulators are using the bad rep of pornographers as a stinkbait to hang around the necks of other businesses that are nowhere as objectionable as the porn/white-slavery/prostitution businesses. It's a kind of high-hat defamation.
As for payday lending, which is usurious and the same thing as loan-sharking, that is something that should be legally addressed by advocacy and education, not regulation and left-handed legislation by no-names like these memo-writing busybodies.

I remember the good ole days when banks were closed for dealing with terrorists ... wait one cotton pickin’ minute there ... banks are still dealing with terrorists! Banks are simply craftier than they once were and there is a regime that paid them big bucks in a closed room to expand the practice ....

I suspect they are using the Dodd-Frank bank regulation law. That gives an unelected stooge appointed by Zero all kinds of power to harass and make demands free of any constraints of Congress. Congress can’t even cut funding because the law allows this outrageously unconstitutional agency to fund itself as needed! Another law passed without any Republicans voting for it I might add.

Wells Fargo hassled me about a little nothing 4-H account that they’d have for several years. After them trying their hardest to connect my personal affairs with the non-profit for over an hour, I walked over to the teller and cashed a check for the full amount and reopened the account at the next bank down the street. WF is evil.

Thank you for the reply. None of the memoranda mentioned or quoted Dodd-Frank, but then these lawyers are busy transacting Obama's business, not defending it in court.
It didn't occur to me to think of it, without a reference.

their = theyre before the apostrophe Nazis show up. Know what you mean.... I have regular fights with my Android device's "Spell**cker". It's like a half-bright and wilful child.
But take heart, brother -- all your apostrophes were prophetically foretold in St. John's Book of the Apostrophe. ;)

I imagine they are using threats unofficially. Dodd Frank gives them so much power to harass a simple phone call from them to someone in charge would get the effect they wanted, or ELSE. They could claim it's unrelated, like that
fellow they threw in jail for insulting Mohammad in a movie but technically for something else.
