2 Albuquerque Officers Charged With Murder in March Shooting
ABC News ^ | January 12, 2015 | Russell Contreras

Two Albuquerque police officers were charged with murder Monday in the shooting death of a knife-wielding homeless man that led to violent protests and brought new scrutiny to the police department amid a federal investigation.

The decision to bring murder charges occurred at a time when police tactics are under intense review nationwide, fueled by the fatal shooting of an unarmed 18-year-old in Ferguson, Missouri, and the chokehold death of another unarmed man in New York City. Grand juries declined to charge officers in those cases, leading to large protests.

Acknowledging the frustration over the secrecy of the proceedings in those cases, the Albuquerque district attorney said she would bypass the grand jury process and instead present the murder case to a judge at a preliminary hearing that will be open to the public.

"Unlike Ferguson and unlike in New York City, we're going to know. The public is going to have that information," District Attorney Kari Brandenburg said.

It is the correct thing to do, but I don’t thin the Fergeson crowd will like it. He was white, so I guess #WhiteLivesMatter.

Families
Retarded people
Old people
Homeless people

These are the really most vulnerable people in society and cops are killing them.

while albq seems to have problems in the police department, the perp was well known to the cops and he had a history of assault on police officers.

I’ve got an idea that if you google the DA, you find a zealot looking to make headlines for a run for congress.

there is something really really wrong when such manpower is used against a bum camping....

something is really wrong when at least 3 strong young men can't handle a bum other than by killing him.....

as long as this attitude exists that the cops are judge and jury then these kinds so things will continue...

What was their justification for shooting him in the ass with the bean bag shotgun, after they already shot him with the m4’s?

Minus all the misinformation, as best as I can tell, this is what happened...

The guy had "frequent violent run-ins with LEOs.

He was waving two knives.

They were trying to get him to surrender for about an hour.

It appears he was finally just starting to turn his back and lie on the ground when he got shot.

There was a guy in Fullerton, CA. He was known to the cops and was occasionally violent, but never a threat to life.

The cops murdered him and the good, law-abiding folks in Fullerton saw to it that the murderers got off scott free.

Scumbags all.

What is with sloppily using the rifle light as if it was a regular utility flashlight?
Officers are walking around dangerously covering everything with the muzzle...
If a random hiker came around the corner, they would have shined the light AND simultaneously pointed a rifle.
It is no wonder they shot this man.
When your only tool is a hammer, everything starts to look like a nail.

She has big problems of her own, but I do feel the 2 officers should not have shot this guy after watching the video on our news here in Abq.

The scumbucket had a 20 year violent history, including attacks on officers, had threatened to kill the officers earlier in the incident, was brandishing 2 knives and disobeyed multiple orders to get on the ground.

If you threaten to kill anyone, including cops, are armed, and refuse to surrender when rifles are pointed at you, you 100% deserve to die.

yikes. the DA accused APD officers of murder after APD says that they have evidence of bribery and intimidation against the DA.

holy crap.

nothing personal, my friend, but albq has issues. serious, serious issues.
