The University of Virginia, after receiving guidance from the local police, has reinstated the fraternity at the center of a magazine article that detailed gang rape allegations that later unraveled.

“We welcome Phi Kappa Psi, and we look forward to working with all fraternities and sororities in enhancing and promoting a safe environment for all,” Teresa A. Sullivan, the president of the university, said in a statement.

In November, an article in Rolling Stone magazine detailed a student’s account of a 2012 gang rape at the fraternity, which prompted Ms. Sullivan to suspend all fraternities through the end of the year and to contact the Charlottesville Police Department to request a criminal investigation. The story of the student, identified only as “Jackie,” started to crumble as various people and news organizations began to investigate the veracity of the account, and her friends contested details. Rolling Stone then published a note to readers from Will Dana, the managing editor, stating, “In the face of new information, there now appear to be discrepancies in Jackie’s account, and we have come to the conclusion that our trust in her was misplaced.”

The headline must be truncated. It should have included the words “Found to be Complete Fabrication”, after “Rape”.

I hope the fraternity sues Rolling Stone and throws a keg’er with the settlement.

It took her long enough. Not much fun for the fraternity members this year.

Many of those frats and sororities do a hell of a lot of philanthropic work.

To which the fraternity should have been able to reply; "Thank you. And we wish you well in the unemployment line."

The President should have also included in her statement her resignation speech for having shown herself to be clearly lacking in the type of judgement required to lead a major US university. She is a woman, so it was probably on a par with her peers...

“We welcome Phi Kappa Psi, and we look forward to working with all fraternities and sororities in enhancing and promoting a safe environment for all,” Teresa A. Sullivan, the president of the university, said in a statement.."

Now that's gonna be a bit difficult hereto forward since they've shown that mere accusation can have substantial effect.

"..The President should have also included in her statement her resignation speech for having shown herself to be clearly lacking in the type of judgement required to lead a major US university. She is a woman, so it was probably on a par with her peers.."

Wasn't it Mr Jack that responded to a question about women. "I think of a man, and I take away reason and accountability.." Apply that to either or. d:^)

Sullivan has demonstrated that she’s completely incompetent and needs to go.

The only reason she’s still there is because she’s a woman.

Yes—I said it.

Time for this fraternity to lawyer up and sue the living $hit out of Rolling Stone.

There is no doubt there was a lot of financial damage here.

The idiot who made these accusations should have her Sorority barred from the university.

This is the first that I’ve heard that she was in a sorority. Where did you hear this?
