The real irony with the sky-high deductibles is that this fiasco was sold to the unsuspecting as THE solution to our current system where medical crises bankrupt so many families. I challenge the average family on Obamacare to be able to plunk down $10-12K a year before receiving any insurance help. And that’s while paying close to $1000 a month premium.

Yeah, I can’t do it. I am pretty much screwed.

I have a bum ticker and I’m a diabetic, so my monthly rates would be very high because of those conditions.

Secondly, I am unemployed, but I have assets and live off of a very modest capital investment income.

But since my yearly taxable income is low, if I so much as even attempt to sign up, I’m going to be put on Medicaid where my assets will then be at risk if something major happens to me, which is quite likely.

So I do not want to put myself in a position where the government will seize my assets upon my death, and I really cannot afford to pay monthly premiums on top of my monthly bills and then a sky high deductible in case of emergency.

Furthermore, it is also my understanding that Obungholecare does not cover all expenses even after the deductible is paid, and that there will still be considerable bills left over.

So I am pretty much at the point of well I’m just going to live out my time as well as I can, and when my machinery fails, then it’ll be time for me to go home, and that’s it.

I have a cousin who signed up for Obamacare. She works full time but doesn’t make a lot of money. She is subsidized down to where her premiums are like $2 per month............but she has a $5k deductible so it is the same as not having insurance to her. She can’t pay the deductible.......but! The insurance company is still collecting the premiums that the stat/fed whoever is paying for a policy that will never be used except maybe catastrophic. How many others are out there just like her?
