Volvo drive train in a “T” roadster sounds pretty cool. I have a friend who bought a 122 wagon that had been rear ended and converted it into a 2 door with a blown GMC V-6 and five speed. It is custom throughout, very fast and gets 30 mpg. I’ll look for a picture.

The absolute best one was definitely the Jaguar campaign...

Found it. - You probably know that Volvo never made a 122 2 door wagon...
(they surely never dreamed of one like this: artic air, electric windows, seats and sunroof, key fob doors and rear gate, 295 hp supercharged GMC V-6, power steering, 4 wheel power disc brakes)

I think the 4 cyl motor in my 122 was a B-18 with twin side draft SU carburettors. It would hum along at 65 and turn in a steady 25 miles per gallon. If I pushed it past 70, the mileage dropped and it consumed oil.
It had a canvas radiator blind with a metal chain hung under the dash to roll it up or down, depending on outside temperature.
I bought it from a guy who got it from his dad. His father had driven it from Iowa down to Central America several times while working on his PHD in Meso-America Whatever.
I called to tell him about the loss of the car and he confessed to the real mileage on the car, something near 350,000 miles, when he sold it to me.

My roommate in college had a ‘hand-me-down’ 544 fastback that each of his two older brothers had driven in college. I think it had turned over two or three times, too. Those things were literally bullet proof. He once checked the oil and nothing showed on the dipstick. He didn’t remember the last time he had added any, but it didn’t seem to have any effect. He added 2 quarts of 30W and a big can of some sort of 50W tractor something or other. He said it smoked for a few miles then went back to normal.

The 122 was an A-1 car but had 4-F tires. I kept putting off replacements to the point my wife was hesitant to ride with me.
One Saturday morning she was making pancakes (very thin and rubbery, almost crepe style) and blurted out, “Y’know, you could use these pancakes as tire patches...
To this day, when she makes these pancakes, we refer to them as “tire patches.”
