I have a feeling if you, me or my dog put in an application for the SNAP program, with this President we’d get approved.

I once quit a job, took another and had to move my family 250 miles when it was pointed out to me that once my wife delivered our 2nd. child I was going to qualify for food stamps. I just refused to be in that position.

From the article:

“Eschmeyer said in another interview in July 2010 she is an avid reader of “Obama FoodoRama,” the “blog of record about White House food initiatives” that was saddened when the First Lady’s garden was left to the squirrels during the government shutdown.”

But, but, I thought I saw pictures of Michelle tending to her garden herself? I’m shocked to learn that taxpayers were paying for it!

Of course there should be ‘food justice’ - after all vegetables have spirits and children....

This is a real quote - people believed this once and many like Debra probably still do...

“ That vegetables as well as animals have spirits, is clearly shown from the fact that they have capacity for joy and rejoicing.... We are compelled to believe that every vegetable, whether small or great, has a living intelligent spirit capable of feeling, knowing, and rejoicing in its sphere....        This is the origin of spiritual vegetables in Heaven. These spiritual vegetables are sent from Heaven to the terrestrial worlds, where, like animals, they take natural tabernacles, which become food for the sustenance of the natural tabernacles of the animal creation. Thus the spirits of both vegetables and animals are the offspring of male and female parents which have been raised from the dead, or redeemed from a fallen condition....
If [these particles of spirit] were once organized in the vegetable kingdom, and then disorganized by becoming food of celestial animals, and then again reorganized in the form of the spirits of animals which is a higher sphere of being, then, is it unreasonable to suppose that the same particles have, from all eternity, been passing through an endless chain of unions and disunions, organizations and disorganizations, until at length they are permitted to enter into the highest and most exalted sphere of organization in the image and likeness of God?

...[H]ere, then, is apparently a transmigration of the same particles of spirit from an inferior to a superior organization, wherein their condition is improved, and their sphere of action enlarged. Who shall set any bounds to this upward tendency of spirit? Who shall prescribe limits to its progression? If it abide the laws and conditions of its several states of existence, who shall say that it will not progress until it shall gain the very summit of perfection, and exist in all the glorious beauty of the image of God?” - (Orson Pratt, The Seer, March 1853, pages 34, 38; July 1853, pages 102-103; see also Doctrine and Covenants 77:1-4).

And notice that the impassioned “justice” regarding fresh healthy food focuses on outright _fresh_, usually fruit: kept about room temperature from field to grocery, with minimal/no preservation techniques applied, leaving a very short window before the stuff rots - to wit, the most difficult and expensive form of food availability, and they’re insisting it happen in the areas hardest to get to and lowest demand for it (even negative demand, if you consider theft/vandalism). They completely reject frozen foods (packaged within minutes of picking, long term stable storage, excellent nutrition retention) and other sub-ideal yet entirely acceptable cost-effective options (canned, minimally processed; good nutritional content).

You didn’t think they would stop at “free healthcare for everyone”, did you? Of course “free food for everyone” is next on the list. ...which of course means finding the highest (if not lowest) common denominator, and prohibiting anything better than that (like they did with “cadillac” health plans).

Uh...wut...oh.

Hence the importance of understanding your axioms and those of others: that which is a natural consequence of fundamental beliefs is bafflingly absurd to those who hold different fundamental beliefs. That drivel makes perfect sense if you accept certain basic principles which most sane/rational people don’t.
