Democrats launch first filibuster of the year on Keystone

Democrats launched the first filibuster of the new Congress on Thursday, objecting to the GOP’s effort to try to bring the Keystone XL pipeline bill to the floor early next week.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell tried to schedule action early next week on the bill, and promised an open process, including allowing both sides to offer amendments to the bill — an attempt to break with the previous few years, when Democrats controlled the floor and kept a tight lid on amendments.

But Democrats objected to Mr. McConnell’s request, forcing him to begin the procedure for breaking a filibuster.

Every leftist ever:

“The oil that will be sent through the pipeline isn’t going to help lower gas prices here.”

It won’t if we can’t buy it and transport it to our refineries...

If the GOP actually wanted to fight, they would bombard media channels with the Dems position on oil supply. Every commercial break on TV would say, “Isn’t it great to finally be able to afford a tank of gas. Families across America now have a little more to spend on life’s necessities, like food and the heating bill. BURT Congressional Democrats want to help put an end to plentiful gas supply - they want YOU to PAY MORE at the pump. Congressional democrats would rather see you go immediately back to paying far in excess of what you should. They just don’t get it. Make it a point to call every democrat leader you can in congress, today, and let them know you’re not going to put up with their games anymore.”

But of course reality sets in. The GOP has no balls. They will not fight...

First order of business for the Republican Senate SURELY was to roll back the Democrat Senate rules that prevented filibusters.

Oh. Well, why not send McCain over the extol the virtues of reaching across the aisle? I’m sure this is just an oversight, and doing so will clear things right up.

There’s no such a thing as “working with”, “reaching across the aisle” with Democrats. No such a thing. The Democrat Party has an agenda to rid the World of our Constitutional Republic, and everything it stands for. To them nothing is going to be allowed to alter progress towards that agenda.

PERIOD.

Just follow the democrats lead.

Change the Senate rules any time procedures get in your way.

Good. McConnell needs a lesson on how to wield Senate powers effectively.

Let Boehner and McConnell see what one-half of one-third of the government really looks like.

Maybe then they'll begin to realize the amount of political capital they squandered.
