Tuesday wasn’t Curt Schilling’s day to be elected to baseball’s Hall of Fame and the Boston Red Sox former great believes his politics are one reason he fell short of the necessary number of votes.

Schilling’s former teammate, Pedro Martinez, was elected, along with Randy Johnson, John Smoltz and Craig Biggio. Although he and Smoltz have similar stats, Schilling fell 240 votes short.

I agree. He should have been inducted into the HoF several years ago. Baseball fans understand this. It is only conservatives who understand the whys and wherefores of it.

When the NFL first screwed Rush over, I was so mad.

But now I’m happy cuz it looks like he totally dodged a bullet:

PRO SPORTS — FULL OF COWARDLY, LIBERAL MANAGEMENT & OWNERSHIP...!!

He’s probably right, but what can you do? It’s just a contest, not a job. This same attitude comes into play for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, so I hear.

Political correctness makes it immoral to be conservative in any way, or have any non progressive opinions. Those of us who have friends or family who are progressive, are more than likely regarded as bigots and almost subhuman in their eyes. This will only get worse until PC is finally outer for what it is.

I think the other big thing is, I think he’s a Democrat, and so… I know that as a Republican that there’s some people that really don’t like that.”

The problem with Schilling's argument is that Smoltz is not a Democrat.

Sports writers are members of the media. About 90% of the media are leftists. Connect the dots.

John Smoltz is a Republican, or at least associated with Republicans.

I guarantee that Patrick Reusse of Minneapolis would vote against someone he would call a “hater” with his HOF vote.

That may not be entirely true.In fact in may not be even partially true. Most people outside of Rhode Island don't know that he's involved in a huge scandal involving the disappearance of $75 million of taxpayers' money via the collapse of his tech company,38 Studios, that went bust a few years ago.The RI Attorney General and the SEC are investigating..or were recently at least (I haven't kept up with the case recently).

One of the juicy bits regarding the case is that two RI State legislators, one a Rat and the other a Republican, have received threats to stop investigating the case.

Anyone who's curious should google "38 Studios"...pretty nasty stuff.

Republican? Maybe. But just as possible due to millions in missing cash and threats of physical harm made by an unknown person.

Never heard Smoltz make a political statement or announce his political affiliation. Schilling on the other hand I have seen quoted with conservative beliefs talking about them with the press.

Craig Biggio is a devout Catholic, coached at a Catholic high school and is. Conservative and he was elected to the HoF.

Curt is delusional.

Yep, it was an absolutely joke that Rush took that long to get into the R&R HOF. Their Randian Libertarian views cost them dearly.

Curt has enough to worry about in the aftermath of his bankruptcy.

That Curt did not get voted into the HoF because he is a Republican.

Craig Biggio is also a Republican and he was voted into the Hall.
