Thoughts?
In what way will they “hold all the cards”?
I can’t think of any positives here. As much as the GOP party sucks, these guys have to go along.
Why did Boner win today? Because he and the rest of the turds in DC are going to punish his enemies who voted against him. Repubs knew that. And so they clucked like chikens and went along.
My representative, Tom McClintock, CA who gives speeches about his conservative values voted for Boehner. I let him know what I thought about his vote.
What if those 5 senators are John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and Thad Cochran?
I am surprised one or two Democrats didn’t switch over. Thoughts?
Should.
Won’t.
Cowards.
BONER (or his minions):
“Say Tom, I know you are angling for that nice spot on the __________________ Committee. Be a sport and vote “in the best interests of the Congress” and - by Golly - I just know you’ll get the chairman position.”
it would never happen. Those are the most liberal of the bunch. They would NEVER bite the hand that feeds it.
CA values...
And they lose their committee assignments, they get assigned the crappiest offices, and any bills they sponsor get $#!tcanned.
True, but if the premise is that 5 conservative Rs switch to Ind will cause the Senate GOPe leadership to be more conservative, then 5 liberal Rs switch to Ind, that would force the leadership to be more liberal. And the 5 liberal Rs to Ind would be more believable in their threat to caucus with the Ds.
The only “Indepdendent” is an avowed socialist, Bernie Sanders. And he his not tolerated by the democrats; he’s envied by them. He’s what they want to be when they grow up.
Any republican who goes independent to the right will not be allowed to run in the party primary, and will be targeted and buried by the GOP in the general election.
A Republican who declares themselves “independent” holds all the cards, but is also soaking them in gasoline and lighting a match.
Piss on the GOP. Anyone still willing to vote for a GOP candidate needs to check their patriotism, and their head...Cruz gets my vote, so long as there’s no “R” next to his name.
It doesn’t do much since you generally need 60 votes in the Senate to end debate.
How many cards did Arlen Specter hold when he left the Senate in disgrace?
With Yertle the Turtle as Majority Leader, I am sure he would be more than willing to go along to get along.
The one I thought might give some consideration was Joe Manchin, WV, but dems don't thinking independently like conservatives... for the dems, furtherance of the interests of their Party is Job One. The Party comes first always.
I say we all vote whack lib from now on and crash this asap.
Seriously, vote for the worst $#1t candidate and crash and burn this horrible corrupt entity that was once a beautiful republic.
They won’t do it.
It’s all about the dough.
Independents hold NO cards. They lose all their seniority in the party, all their committee spots, they get nobody to caucus with. It’s a good way to end a career but it doesn’t actually accomplish much.
