Rep Justin Amash R-MI says he will not vote for Speaker Boehner
That spoiled, rich boy Palestinian? He would be a disaster for the GOP. We don’t need antisemites who represent a pretend people such as the Philistines.
Sgould be an interesting test for Kerry Bentivolio’s replacement but I pretty much assume he’ll vote for the establishment.
Thanks - I added him to my running total on the thread I started yesterday:

the closest thing to a libertarian in congress. pass.
“That spoiled, rich boy Palestinian?”
What in the hell are you smoking this morning?
This guy is one of the most conservative, and accessible reps in Congress.
And all you look at is his last name and then the rest of your brain just shut right down.
My guess is, the plan is to have about 20 challengers to make sure the Weeper gets the majority of the votes.
So you are for retaining Crybaby Boehner as Speaker? What is your point?
The Speakership is conveyed by a majority vote. A plurality isn’t enough, if a majority isn’t reached there are additional ballots until one is.
So more GOP candidates in the fray is a good thing, because it works to deny Boehner the majority he needs on the first ballot.
To continue, if Boehner doesn’t get to a majority on the first ballot, I think it’s over for him. He won’t just be embarassed: I think other GOP Congressmen will then start to bolt on the subsequent ballots.
“This guy is one of the most conservative, and accessible reps in Congress”
Well said. He is my Rep; I have followed him from the time he was the state rep and spoke at the very first TEA Party Rally. It was gutsy for him to do that, and I admire him for his courage and conviction.
Thank you. Very informative.
They said the same about Kerry Bentivolio but he was about a solid a conservative who could be found in DC. I know he would have voted against Boehner but its doubtful his replacement will.
The simple fact is that FR has plenty of GOPe trolls who spend their lived on their knees for guys like Boehner.
Oops! I just read it again. It said Justin Amash was voting against Speaker Boehner. Now that I read it correctly I say good for him — even if I don’t agree with Amash’s Middle East views. As Emily Litella would say — NEVERMIND!
Did I say he was as perfect as most people on FR pretend that they are?
Hell come to Grand Rapids and run against him next time so we can examine your conservative perfection. If you are better then you will win.
Aaaaaaand I jumped the gun on posting as well. Doh!
Guess the whole speaker outcome has me a bit heated.
There is a lot a lot at stake. The fate of the country is literally in the balance.
The House on Friday passed a bill to approve construction of the Keystone XL pipeline hours after a Nebraska court ruled in favor of the proposed route. The legislation now goes to the Senate, where it is expected to be approves. The White House has warned President Obama would veto the legislation. Passage fell largely along party lines, 266-153, with 28 Democrats joining nearly all Republicans in favor. Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) voted "present." That is short of the necessary two-thirds majority needed to override a veto. [House Approves Keystone XL Pipeline]
...legislation sponsored by Rep. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) which approved construction of the long-delayed Keystone XL Pipeline... 31 Democratic representatives voted with every Republican member of Congress save Rep. Justin Amash (R-MI), who voted present, to approve construction of the pipeline. [31 House Democrats join GOP in vote to approve Keystone]
