This series has debuted to rave reviews this new year. It is currently rated 9.4 on imbd which is higher than "Gone with the Wind, "Star Wars", and "Lord of the Rings".

Older FReepers might remember Kirk Douglas' old movie, "Heroes of Telemark", which is available in its entirety on youtube here:

Michael Bay is working on a new Hollywood big screen version called "Sabotage":

For now this series looks like a must see for historically inclinced FReepers.

Hope everyone is enjoying their new year :)

Cheers,

Euro.

What is the best way to watch this from the US? Not the trailer, but the actual series.

I saw HEROES OF TELEMARK many years ago and again not long back.

I also remember seeing a Michael York TV movie about the same thing. I believe it was A MAN CALLED INTREPID.

Watched the Trailer. It seems to portray Heisenberg as a gung-ho fervent wannabe bomb maker, but according to the book "The Making of the Atomic Bomb" by Richard Rhodes, It would appear that he was anything but.

According to the book, Heisenberg appeared to be deliberately dragging his feet in doing Atomic research. There were things that he appears to have deliberately sandbagged. Tests and experiments, the consequences of which would have advanced German research in the area, but for whatever reason Heisenberg seemed to be slow walking.

Also his conversation with Neils Bohr seems to indicate that he was not pursuing this area of research as strenuously as he ought to be if he were behaving like a good little Nazi.

I do know that Werner Von Braun got into serious trouble when he talked about using rocketry for purposes other than warfare, and he almost got kicked off the project and arrested. I should not be surprised to learn that not every scientist in German hands was thrilled with the idea of making death machines.

A local obscure movie channel showed “The Heroes of Telemark” last week. Managed to see some of it.

Participate. In that thread about America I posted when very drunk.

You laugh at Norway. You, as in the USA, are also a welfare state.

So you have been ever since Roosevelt.

And, you live in an economy that is not sustainable.

Entitlements and interest payments already take over 50 percent of US GDP, in 20 years it will be 90 percent.

If it wasn’t for the financial gymnastics America would already be bankrupt. So are many European Nations.

We are all printing money.

Perhaps the money men know more than us.

Because it seems to work.

Cheers,

Euro.

Hitler’s atomic bomb program run by Werner Heisenberg missed the fact that heavy water wasn’t needed for a nuclear pile and common graphite would work just as well. Enrico Fermi did make the graphite connection and the first atomic reactor built in a squash court at the University of Chicago was simply uranium encased in graphite blocks.
