An 80-metre wind turbine has collapsed on a mountainside near Fintona in County Tyrone.

80 meters is huge (~264 ft). Most US turbines have 90-120 foot blades, I believe.

Don't pity them; stupid fools should have known better about spending money chasing wind.

Just go to youtube and search for “disintegrating wind turbine” and you will see it happens with some regularity.

Did it produce more energy than was required to extract all the materials used in it’s construction as well as all associated manufacturing, transportation and installation costs? Did the income from the energy produced pay for all the associated labor costs required for the above as well as regular maintenance, scrap removal and salvage/recycling operations?
