Cap and Tax on a national basis was a liberal’s dream.
Tons of money for the government and all the blame for rising energy prices would be placed (by the MSM) on greedy utilities and oil companies.

The problem with it on a state basis is folks will look across the border and notice it ain’t happening elsewhere.

And remember, we haven't committed to make any carbon cuts for 30 years, so in the meantime, just buy from us. Thanks California!

Can someone in California please post yesterday’s cost for a gallon of regular and today’s cost? Thanks. I have told several California friends this was going to happen but they didn’t believe me.

Hasn’t posted at the pumps yet.

I paid $2.509 / gal 87octane yesterday at 2pm at a filling station typically within a few cents of Valero.

This morning at 0900, Valero was charging $2.479/gal, and they tend to change their prices daily.

In my area, Chevron was $2.659 yesterday...today it is $2.719.

Anecdotal to be sure...but the impact was immediate.

I paid $2.299/gal for 87octane day before yesterday at Sam’s Club in Folsom, CA. Sam’s isn’t open today so I’ll have to check on tomorrow.

Somebody on the radio news today said that Grand Rapids, MI had the lowest price in the nation. I missed the specific details.

Ok, went back to Sam's Club today in Mrs. Waspman's car and topped it off at $2.329/gal as opposed to the $2.299 I paid in my car on the 30th of Dec.

So that up only about 3 cents/gal but I'm afraid there will be more increases as the effect of Schwartzenrenneger's stupid law keeps putting the squeeze on the most effecient form of transportation energy there is available, currently!!!

So basically the ‘cap and trade’ portion of the tax has been turned into a giant slush fund and noone is supervising it.

What is wrong with legislators that they think poor people can pay $1.25 per gallon in taxes?

And then, there’s all the public agencies that buy gas for vehicles and pass that cost on to the taxpayer, so the taxpayer is hit twice - once at the pumps and again on tax day.

Rather than let the economy enjoy low gas prices for the first time in years, these clowns are falling all over each other trying to jack the price back up with taxes on the state and federal levels. And when the price of gasoline goes back up, and it will, those taxes will still be there. It’s greed plain and simple and it’s insanity.
