Jonathan Gruber Vindicates Governor Palin for a Hefty Fee
Conservatives4Palin ^ | December 31 2014 | Steve Flesher

We all remember it well.  Governor Palin’s infamous statement on what was to become ObamaCare way back in 2009:

The Democrats promise that a government health care system will reduce the cost of health care, but as the economist Thomas Sowell has pointed out, government health care will not reduce the cost; it will simply refuse to pay the cost. And who will suffer the most when they ration care? The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course. The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s “death panel” so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their “level of productivity in society,” whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.

Governor Palin wrote those comments in August of 2009 free of charge so that any American who had access to Facebook could benefit from them.

Two months later, Jonathan Gruber said pretty much the same thing re: ObamaCare: (h/t Daily Caller)

“The problem is it starts to go hand in hand with the mandate; you can’t mandate insurance that’s not affordable. This is going to be a major issue,” Gruber admitted in an October 2, 2009 lecture, the transcript of which comprised the policy brief.

[...]

Gruber also said that the only way to control costs is to effectively deny treatment.

“The real substance of cost control is all about a single thing: telling patients they can’t have something they want. It’s about telling patients, ‘That surgery doesn’t do any good, so if you want it you have to pay the full cost.’”

Also as you know, other Democrats (Howard Dean, Paul Krugman, etc.) said the same thing regarding the cost of the legislation and how it played into the rationing of care or procedures (see Michelle McCormick’s post last year).  And when it comes time to deny or ration, which types of patients do you think they’re going to start with?  As Governor Palin said, "the sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course."

So let’s recap.  In October of 2009, Jonathan Gruber officially warned of this behind closed doors at a pretty hefty charge to taxpayers.

Governor Palin says pretty much the same things months prior — out in the open — at no cost at all to taxpayers and it’s called "the lie of the year?"

I guess PolitiFact missed Jonathan Gruber.

Sarah was right about “Drill, baby, drill!” too. The expansion of new domestic oil sources has brought relief at the pump, is driving a large portion of the economic recovery (such as it is), and may just end up being the undoing of Putin in Russia.

Not that Obama will admit that he was 100% wrong here. Nor will he hesitate to take credit for the benefits of policies he opposed.

I actually saw a column in the Gannett generipaper today (by some black guy) who wrote -

Republicans talked endlessly about drill baby drill but it was Obama who actually made it happen.

holding a single position in government will not save this country from the left.

being a king maker will.

she has gone around the country getting conservatives elected at record pace.

Is their any reason why a sitting Senator could not have done the VERY SAME THING?

Sort of like a reverse Clinton endorsement.
Everywhere BJ and Hill went last fall, a Dem died LOL.

Name Senators, with the possible exceptions of Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and Jeff Sessions, who have done more for conservatism than Sarah Palin, come on, name them Einstein.

Agree I am no Einstein but she could bolster the Senate, lock a seat up and still do all the things she has been doing. And really piss off the MSM in the process. She is to easily ignored now.

I think I'll just let her pick her own "target" on what she wants to do.

She usually picks pretty good, not perfect, but pretty good.

IMO, her “power” comes from not being part of the government/establishment i.e. a Senator. She’s a loose cannon as she is and she scares everybody. If in the Senate, she’d be fighting Mitch McConnell, who would be doing all he could to cut her legs out from under her .... same as he’s doing to Cruz, Lee, etc. Sarah can go where she wants (endorse/campaign for people other than herself) and say what she wants - I like her where she is. If she could get into the WH without the enemedia tearing her and her family to shreds, I’d be all for it, but she’s sacrificed/lost her fair share pounds of flesh already, running with McCain, who did her no favors then, either ... or Romney’s people who did their best to take her out so she wouldn’t be running against him.

Politi"fact" has always been only about invalidating reasonable conservative arguments under the guise of impartiality.

That kind of twisted logic sounds like the black guy from Texas who called Rush’s show and got his ears pinned back by the guest host, Eric Erick-son. (sen?)

“............she could bolster the Senate, lock a seat up and still do all the things she has been doing. And really piss off the MSM in the process. She is to easily ignored now.”

If she was a Senator she’d have a constituency she’d have to serve. She’s free to be, and say all she wants to, and I hope she remains that way until the right moment she can then serve the entire National constituency.

IF she is too easily ignored now as you said in your post, then why isn’t she?

The joke going around is that when Chelsea starts her run for elected office, she’s going to beg Mom and Dad to say home.

I could not expect any more from a Black man who supports Obama.
It isn’t the color of the skin, but the culture embraced that degrades intelligence and reasoning. Obviously this applies to Whites also as is readily apparent in NYC.

I’ve learned that you can’t actually use reality to discuss anything with liberals.

Did you hear the guy the other day on (not)Rush that insisted that gas was $5 a gallon when Obama took office?
