It almost sounds like two completely separate incidents. The writer, in their eagerness to include adjectives like, “The Masterbating Burglar” seems to throw that detail into the very first statement, with little follow up or connection.
We’ll at least he finally took his hands off of the dog, if you know what I mean.

It is unknown if the dog suffered any injuries as a result of the thiefs alleged leap from the second floor, or if the burglar had let go after hitting the ground
I would suspect that the burglar did let the dog go, as there is no report of him holding the dog hostage while on his way to the hospital.
