President Obama might offer plenty of praise for American police at some times, but his friendly associations with Al Sharpton and comments at other times add up to contempt for police officers, Rudy Giuliani says.
Asked by CBS whether hed recant some claims about President Obamas anti-police rhetoric because the president has praised police often, Giuliani declined, and pointed first to the presidents frequent meetings with Sharpton. You make Al Sharpton a close adviser, youre going to turn police against you, Giuliani said. I saw this man cause riots in New York; Ive heard his anti-police invective firsthand. To have a man who hasnt paid $4 million dollars, to have a man whos spent his career helping to create riots and phony stories about police, to have that man sitting next to you speaks volumes. Actions speak louder than words.
You put Al Sharpton sitting next to you, Giuliani said, you just said youre against the police.
If I talked to you about fighting the Mafia . . . as I did in the 1980s, and I had [Mafia boss] Joe Colombo sitting next to me, Giuliani said, you would say I was a big hypocrite. It wouldnt matter what my rhetoric is: Oh, Im fighting the Mafia. Theres Joe Colombo. Im for the police? Theres Al Sharpton. Every cop in Americas going to say, give me a break.
Giuliani also pointed to President Obamas insertion of race into comments about incidents where it didnt seem to be a factor and his sending representatives to funerals of
Al Sharpton, a minister, New York activist, and former presidential candidate, has been a guest of Mayor Bill de Blasio and President Obama on many occasions in both mens term of office. While the Clinton administration shunned Sharpton in the 90s (not long after hed been involved in a number of controversies in New York), Glenn Thrush reported this summer for Politico Magazine that Sharpton has been a key liaison for President Obama on race issues, frequently exchanging texts and e-mails with Attorney General Eric Holder.
What I have seen of Mayor Rudy on Fox, it reminds me of what it is like to have adults at the helm, gosh I miss that. Do I dare say he is almost looking Presidential by doing so? Anyway it is a screed of the leadership vacuum for sure....
Do I dare say he is almost looking Presidential by doing so
He’s pro-gay and pro-abortion but He can lead so I would vote for him. Actually he’s mi first choice for AG!
I know this thread will soon degenerate into criticisms of Guiliani’s support for gun control, abortion, and open borders - And don’t get me wrong, these are valid criticisms - but Rudy was perfect for NYC at the right place and time. He was, quite possibly, the best Mayor of NYC since La Guardia.
He’s not my first choice but I would vote for him if he was the choice, unlike Jeb, who is just another demorat-a-tat-rat to me.
Rudi would make an EXCELLENT AG!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know Rudy has his faults and I disagree with him on many issues, but d@mmit! Isn’t the saddest thing of all how we MISS ‘leadership’ so desperately, that we’re willing to SETTLE?
If 0bama actually HAD leadership skills, consider how much more quickly America would be rolling downhill...and how much more easily those of us on the Right might be assisting him.
Just let that sink in a little...
*SHUDDER*
I agree, I miss the days when we had adults in charge.
Gotta love the straight shootin’ Giuliani. He doesn’t back down from his statements and he supports his words with facts and logic. He doesn’t walk on egg shells around the media. Dude has spine.
If you'd said it too loudly some years back, you would have been banned.
He is a liberal, pro death to babies rino.
Also remember how much death and destruction Rudy witnessed on 9/11 plus all those funerals for the NYPD and NYFD. He’s coming to their defense like he’s still the mayor vs the current commie occupier.
He’s the type of guy you can be at odds with on certian issues, but he isnt a d*ck about not agreeing with you.
Cruz for AG and eventually the Supreme Court.
0bama is against rational Law but for irrational, emotional Law (aka Social Justice).
One of the things Giuliani promised if elected president was to appoint strict Constitutionalists to the courts. I’d be willing to take him at his word and give him a try for 4 years.
Perfect.
A guy like Rudy has his place. Mayor of New York was one of them and law enforcement was the other.
MSM press guys are sooooooooo stupid. I wonder if the dude would 'get' it if a Republican President had as his 'go to' guy some active member of the KKK.
They were all zotted.
