This kind of stuff is the first sign of decay. Next will be a return in Times Square of the Jew-hating black “preachers” with the bullhorns. And DeBlasio pronouncing that graffiti is “art.”

When there is an incentive, a market will develop almost immediately. The total power of the Law of Supply and Demand is a concept lost on Liberals/Socialists.

I know I’m a dissident here but there were squeegees and homeless under Bloomberg. He still had a safe city for the most part but he was the one who allowed Occupy New York to destroy businesses and take root downtown.

That’s not an exhaust pipe, it’s a curb feeler.

You live there...I visit on a somewhat regular basis. Therefore you know the city far better than do I.However, when it comes to squeegees and homeless you're never gonna *eliminate* them without setting up a police state. The best you can do is minimize them.Dinkins->Rudy-> Doomberg....I say Dinkins is the weakest link,by far! As for Occupy Wall Street...what could Doomberg have done to *stop* it? If he had tried Rat Party Headquarters *and* the American Communist Lawyers Union would have been storming the doors of every courthouse in the city.Particularly the *Federal* ones.

I just spoke to a neighbor at the post office. He’s a former Detroit cop and he says the street games are more of a public nuisance than anything. They kept them moving so they didn’t disrupt business but beyond that nobody really cared. Kept them to side streets and out of alleys.

He did say that most were valuable for information. Said they often played the games themselves as a means of paying for info and loosening tongues.

Agree that Wilhelm is destroying the hard work that Giuliani did.

Well Giuliani and di Blasio have at least one thing in common. The NYPD PBA members demanded both be excluded from their funerals.

Well, it is a strange shape, but I thought curb feelers would be on the right side of a U.S. car.

Occupy Wall Street was able to rape, steal and plunder during their time in NYC. They ruined one business that Sean Hannity tried to repair. They were criminals who should have been denied a permit. I can’t remember if they even got a permit. Bloomberg did NOTHING which enraged Guiliani.

Squeegees didn’t surface until what? The 70s? I never saw them before that and I don’t think NYC was a police state then.

““My husband is pissed!” fumed one woman, just moments after her spouse dropped $500 to a team of scammers on 56th Street off Fifth Avenue near Henri Bendel on Thursday.”

Lady, I hate to tell you this, but you are married to an imbecile.

A metal ball inside a metal cup would go "ding" when you shuffled it around.

I wish the street game was that easy.

Brings to mind the Harold Lloyd movie NEVER WEAKEN.

Cleaning up the city was actually a secondary consideration for “Broken Windows” policing. The primary purpose of that policing model was to arrest as many petty criminals as possible for the sole purpose of getting their records (especially their fingerprints) on file. This served two purposes: (1) to cross-check these records against unsolved crimes; and (2) to have additional evidence if/when the petty criminals committed serious crimes down the road.

***offering both crooked card and shell games***

Reminds me of the old west town where all the cowboys lined up to play a rigged game of THREE Card Monte because it was “the only game in town!”

And the shell game reminds me of a now DELETED SCENE in “Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier”, in which he first meets THIMBLERIG.

Thimblerig convinces Davy to play, then when Davy points to the middle thimble, before Thimblerig can lift the middle thimble to show there is no pea there, DAVY picks up the two outer thimbles to show there is no pea there, so the pea MUST be under the middle thimble.

Why this scene was cut from the later releases of the movie I will never know. Maybe the Disney organization did not want to portray Davy as a gambler, yet I REMEMBER seeing that scene. It was also in the comic book released back in 1955.

Then there is that card game in THE FLIM FLAM MAN in which Michael Sarazan mentions to another mark that he is going to turn up the corner of the Queen card. What happens is we will never find out as the rest of the scene is deleted.

It may be because The Flim Fam Man was upstaged by the movie WATERHOLE NUMBER THREE in which the same scene is done in which, after the shuffle of the three cards, all three then have a turned up corner.

I stand corrected, on Bloomie, on the NYC crime levels...as compared to Wilhelm.

For all of his other craziness, at least he (typically) stood with the NYPD and its policies.

Per DoodleDawg’s post...I wonder why he was asked to stay away from PD funerals. (I get why Wilhelm was asked.)
