As a Christian I am happy because I have the peace that comes from knowing I am saved. I am happy to have Holy Spirit living in me. I am happy to have so much love to give and that came after I received Jesus. I was not a loving person prior to that and the giving of love is like any other thing you give. It is actually better to be giving it than receiving it. I asked God to give me the ability to love others and He did that immediately. But I cannot out-give God. I am happy because He loves me so much. I am just happy.

Granny the first chapter in the Alcohol Anonymous book gives the testimony of the founder and his search for sobriety. What he found was anybody can sober up for a short period but staying sober was the hard part. He noticed then that the more religious people were always stronger willed and happier than him. Later he met one of his old drinking buddies and was amazed at how good he looked, when he offered him a drink he declined and said he had stopped drinking. When he was asked how he did it he simply said he found religion. It was that moment when Bill started the process of sobriety with a combination of religious teachings and he ended up staying Sober until his death. AA doesn’t sober you up, a weeks hospital stay can do that easy and it’s part of the process when starting the program. It uses the religious aspect to provide the tools to stay sober, it certainly worked for me and I was going through two gallons of whisky a week. I’m much happier and far stronger than I’ve ever been, God gave me a second chance and I hope he grants that blessing to many others in need.
