Gun show organizer Paul Snider said he recruited three federally licensed firearms dealers to conduct background checks, in compliance with newly passed Initiative 594. [Has this law gone into effect? Election was just six weeks ago.]

“Background Check Blocks Gun Sale To Wanted Man At Spokane Show”
Washington state ping.
BS, I-594 had nothing to do with this.
Washington gun shows forever have had background checks before purchases.
Just the local liberal news trying to make the sheeple wag their tails.
Exactly. I bought my first firearm at the Spokane show a couple of years ago. My friend, who knew how the system works, took me to get my license weeks before the show. No big deal, really.
It's just wahat the NRA said befoer the election ; At any gun show you have; gun owners, licensed gun sellers, veterans, off duty military, cops, off duty cops, special security , and local law enforcement - it is the last place on earth you will normally see a criminal trying to buy a gun.
An axe-grinder at the KOMO link is strutting around and shouting “This is proof that the law works!” without much understanding (of anything).
What we know (or think we know) is: an individual voluntarily submitted to a BG check and the check failed. It is assumed from the article that he was then denied the opportunity to purchase (something).
What we don’t know is whether or not the triggering event (an alleged warrant) was valid (vs. a false-positive), whether or not it was a disqualifying event, and what was the disposition (if any) against the wannabe buyer.
Some would like to analogize it to a speed-trap where there’s increased scrutiny to catch the “bad guys” but if that’s the analogy it’s more like suspending a steel cable across the road at neck height to catch the unwary.
A pox upon their houses.
Yes, I-594 has passed its implementation date. No, it isn’t “in effect”, because it is blatantly unconstitutional. It is null and void.
Thanks.
Another question...
Before the election, many people said the Constitutionality of I-594 would be challenged immediately if it passed.
Has anyone taken this issue to court yet?
You are correct! It drives me nuts when the liberal media and demâs claim background checks are not done at gun shows. I have been to many gun shows in Arizona and if you purchase any type of Firearm from a Licensed dealer you WILL fill out the proper paperwork and it WILL be called in for a background check. The issue is with private independent sellers selling a firearm to anyone at a gun show. They are not required to do a background check. Personally, I would never sell a firearm to someone I did not know, and may not even sell one to someone I did know. If and when I sell a firearm it will be to a licensed dealer. I would much rather he take on the responsibility of making sure the person is authorized to own or possess a firearm.
No, there needs to be a test case, and for that to happen, a prosecution. After the "I Will Not Comply" rally, when over 2000 people broke the I-594 law by handing each other their pistols and rifles, a county sheriff and a county prosecutor (I think eastern Seattle valley area) said they would not prosecute crimes under this bill. So it's going to have to happen in some "commie occupied zone" so we can get a test case.
