That is wonderful! Putting Bowdoin on my to-recommend-list.

As someone who lost her father at age 5 I couldn’t agree more.

I thought I heard on FNC earlier that the NY Yankees fund was going to pay for college for both of his boys. So, while this one is apparently covered by the college, perhaps the Yankees Fund will still pay the college costs for the other son - - -IIRC he’s 13 and I think the one that sent out the beautiful, will make you tear-up tweet I heard on FNC early this morning.

Yes, and if it’s just a tuition waiver, that’s only a part of the expense. Maybe Bowdoin needs to guess again, if all they want to pony up is the waiver. A free ride would be more like it.

Nice of the school...and (and I’m a Red Sox fan) of George Steinbrenner’s Silver Shield charity to offer to pay for him. Steinbrenner has a public high school in Tampa named for him along with a Boys and Girls Club...

As a Bowdoin alumnus I wouldn't recommend it for education. The National Association of Scholars did a study of the whole Bowdoin experience a couple years ago and it isn't pretty. Totally hung up on PC in the classroom, smug liberal elitist atmosphere, hookup and alcoholic culture outside the classroom. It was prestigious when I went there in the sixties but I wouldn't send my son or daughter there now.
