Obama gives the Castro regime in Cuba an undeserved bailout
Washington Post ^ | December 17, 2014 | By Editorial Board

IN RECENT months, the outlook for the Castro regime in Cuba was growing steadily darker. The modest reforms it adopted in recent years to improve abysmal economic conditions had stalled, due to the regime’s refusal to allow Cubans greater freedoms. Worse, the accelerating economic collapse of Venezuela meant that the huge subsidies that have kept the Castros afloat for the past decade were in peril. A growing number of Cubans were demanding basic human rights, such as freedom of speech and assembly.

On Wednesday, the Castros suddenly obtained a comprehensive bailout — from the Obama administration. President Obama granted the regime everything on its wish list that was within his power to grant; a full lifting of the trade embargo requires congressional action. Full diplomatic relations will be established, Cuba’s place on the list of terrorism sponsors reviewed and restrictions lifted on U.S. investment and most travel to Cuba. That liberalization will provide Havana with a fresh source of desperately needed hard currency and eliminate U.S. leverage for political reforms. . .

There isn’t an enemy of America that Obama doesn’t reach across the aisle to accommodate.

Definitely a communist muslim radical run by the KGB, makes Malcolm X look like a piker.

The next 2 years are going to be characterized by a non-stop campaign by this jug eared faggot c sucker to compromise the United States politically, racially, economically, and racially.

Supported only by those Americans, probably the majority, who do not understand that the Cuban people have no rights and will continue to have no rights. Corporations will move in, Cubans will work for slave “wages,” and the Castro thugs will share in the profits.

Fourteen years ago, Forbes reported that Castro was “the world’s wealthiest dictator.” Cuba has always traded with other countries, just not the USA. Poverty in Cuba is entirely unnecessary. The communists there have plenty of money and privileges, drive around in Mercedes while the people have jalopies from the ‘50s..

This cruel charade is going to go on without ceasing. What does that tell you about Obama. Years ago, we called people like him “ComSymps.”

Or flat-out communists. And puppets of the 1% world gubmint crowd.

For 50 years we had an embargo that couldn’t take down the Castro’s.

Then, less that 6 months before the 50 year plan was going to finally work, Obama scuttles it.

At what point do the American people turn off the spigot to the Government so they stop using our money to dish out to other nations like they're rolling dice on a gamblers table!!!!!

If you objectively think about it, Obama HAD to do something.
With oil prices tumbling, both Russia and Venezuela are teetering on economic collapse, leaving the Cuban regime with no one to keep it afloat.
Enter Lord Obama. SHAZAM! Cigars for all.

Sadly, there are FReepers who are supportive also. Liberal FReepers, but they are FReepers just the same.

My daughter asked me what I thought about it. At first I was mad but then decided maybe it was a good thing. But what do we get out of it? We don't need sugar cane; about all they have we might want are cigars. Does Rush still smoke Cuban cigars? Anyway, they will compete with our cigar manufacturers now. And you can't hardly smoke them anywhere now. And they smell worse than cigarettes to me.

Then I gave her a rundown about Batista, the Cuban Missile Crisis, didn't mention the Mariel Boat people. I wanted to emphasize what it was to be a political prisoner there and all the people he imprisoned and murdered.

Told her how they were driving 1950's cars around kept going with rubber bands, figure of speech.

I said we should have taken him out a long time ago because of all the people who fled in boats, also people who managed to save their wealth and come here. I don't have an expert view on the whole thing but I wanted to emphasize above all how terrible communism is.

When I first heard, it was on morning radio, local younger guys on the mike saying embargo and sanctions don't or didn't work. So why are we doing it to the Russians? A fine Christmas some of them will have.

I told her finally that we would probably give them foreign aid. They don't have dollars to buy anything. I see I was right about that. Wish I weren't. And I guess Obama will get credit for it.

We did the same damn thing with China. What did we get out of it? Stuff we have to pay for. No improvement in human rights, nothing. And give them a bunch of our secrets.

I bet a “Foreign Aid” package for Cuba is next.

Obama will close Gitmo next year.

I suspect this is Obama checking another item off his bucket list. He’s probably been dreaming of ending the blockade since he was a teenager.

I have been channel flipping so didn’t see the beginning but Megyn Kelly seems to be reporting that Obama and Castro may be doing something to achieve the very first campaign promise Obama made... close Gitmo. Treaty can now be modified and there is precedence for modifications without congress.
