YERUSHALAYIM (Hamodia Staff) - Russia wants in on the Israeli natural gas boom, but the U.S. wants them to stay out, and that’s why they haven’t made progress negotiating with the Israelis, ambassador to Israel Sergey Yakovlev hinted in an interview with Globes.

Russia has been seeking entry into the Mediterranean gas fields for some time, but so far to no avail. Gazprom, for one, showed interest in becoming a partner in the Leviathan reserve, one of the most important in the Mediterranean Sea, but nothing substantive came of it...

The Bible Predicts that that Russia in the last days will make one last push to control world events. The prophet Ezekiel, in Ezekiel 38-39, predicted 2500 years ago that the country to the extreme north of Israel, Magog, would lead a coalition invasion of Israel and Palestine. The coalition would be led by a strong ruler who Ezekiel called Gog (Putin is a good candidate with his 80% approval rating). Among the nations that Gog would muster are the following; Iran, Turkey, Trans-caucus States, Sudan, and Libya.

Scholars have debated for many years as to "why" Russia would be compelled to move on Israel. Natural Gas may be the answer...

Ezekiel goes on to predict that this invasion will be disastrous for Russia and its coalition nations. G-d himself shall send earthquakes, pestilence, and other natural disasters causing all the coalition nations to fight each other until all are almost destroyed...

Russia has a stranglehold on European natural gas supply, especially to Germany. This grants them the little economic power they have.

It’s a small hop over a relatively shallow and warm sea to supply this gas to Europe.

Econ 101 — better to have no competitors.
