The decision of a St. Louis grand jury to not indict a police officer there of shooting and killing an unarmed man has raised new interest in an officer involved fatal shooting in Salt Lake City.

Dillon Taylor, a white male, was shot and killed in August.

Officer Bron Cruz, who was described as non-white, shot Taylor once in the chest and once in the stomach after he refused to obey police.

The article describes the police officer as "non-white." I wonder why they did that, instead of reporting his actual race.

"Refusing to obey police" is not a justification for summary execution, and there is no way it used to be expressed as such by the media. Self-defense is the ONLY allowable reason.

Watched the body cam video of this. I'll have to watch it again but I don't know what the guy's reason was but he sure made it look like he was going for a gun in his waistband.

Suicide by cop or buying time to make a break for it as he had a warrant out for him for armed robbery?

Did they find out if anyone of this crew had a gun as per the original call that brought the police to the store?

Now, I watched presumably the same video that you did, the one that's 47 seconds long.

The cop pulls up, starts climbing out of the car at 17 seconds, and the kid is shot 20 seconds later.

@ 17 seconds, he's climbing out of the car, at 24 seconds, he rounds the cars that are masking the kid (whose back is to him), he does the aggressive, gravel-voiced "get yer hands out NOW!" thingee at 29 seconds and continuing, the kid still has his back to the cop at 32 seconds, just starting to turn at 33 seconds, and he's shot 4 seconds later, at 37 seconds.

Reminds me of a "shooter" video game.

[Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim] Gill acknowledged that while such earphones were found on Taylor, the investigation was inconclusive as to whether they were in his ears at the time of the shooting.

Wonder if they found Eric Garner's "loosies" with the earphones, since we didn't hear anything more about them after they offed Garner? LOL! :)

No gun, but the dead kid was loaded (0.18). If he was wearing earphones, which by his sauntering away it appears he was, it means the drunk guy had 3-4 seconds to figure out he'd better not do anything stupid.
