MAN Haron Monis couldn’t have done more to make the deaf hear that the terror he unleashed in Sydney was in the name of Islam.
As he walked into the Lindt coffee shop with his shotgun on Monday he wore a headband bearing the war cry: “We are ready to sacrifice for you, O Muhammad.”
The Iranian-born cleric had already fought for Islam by sending jeering letters to the families of Australian soldiers killed in Afghanistan.
On his Facebook page he’d posted jihadist porn and pledged his allegiance to the bloody caliphate of the Islamic State.
And in that coffee shop on Monday he conscripted his terrified hostages at gunpoint into his personal jihad.
He ordered some to hold up against the window a black Shahada flag announcing: “There is no god but Allah; Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.”
He made videos of three of them reciting his demands, which included ordering police to fetch him an Islamic State flag and have broadcast this explanation: “This is an attack on Australia by Islamic State.”
And then he killed two captives.
I don’t know how much more explicit Monis could have been.
And I don’t know how more wilfully deaf some people can be.
“Cops still baffled by gunman’s motivations,” reported AAP on Tuesday.
The Age, in one long online news report on the terror attack, avoided any use of the words “Islam” or “Muslim”.
ABC reporters and commentators, especially, on Radio National, babbled how this unfortunate episode had nothing to do with Islam, given Monis was clearly crazy.

This is precisely what I have been telling people. The media is portraying him as some sort of criminal whacky crazy person and I say...YES! He is a living breathing Jihadist this is who they are.I doubt the western world gets this news in time

I don’t know why this dink was ever allowed to stay in Australia in the first place. We (the west) are such suckers for a sob story about “persecution”.
Next, I don’t know why he wasn’t in jail awaiting trial.
Lastly, I don’t know why snipers didn’t put a bullet through his head from outside the shop, rather than rushing it, resulting it the death of two of the hostages. I saw stills from either a videographer or photographer where he could clearly be seen inside the shop. If they could see that, so could police snipers.
He may have been a lone wolf, but it wasn’t like there weren’t warning signs that this guy could be dangerous. Great big warning signs with flashing lights and arrows and the whole works, in fact.
He was a well Known Jihadi Wolf.
I feel acceptance of Islamic moderation puts us in danger.

A step in the right direction, but there is always some pesky qualifier like “radical” or “fundamental” suggesting that these are statistical anomalies amongst the otherwise peaceful muslims. Sorry it doesn’t work that way. The “peaceful” ones carrying bags of groceries from the market are cooking meals and making babies for the “radical” ones. Reading just a bit of history shows it’s all one big muslim package.

It’s not Islamic fundamentalism that is the problem. It is Islam itself. No country is safe when their population becomes more than a very few percentage Muslim.
Totally agree. Ignoring constant calls for “jihad” and acts thereof is stupid.
Religions have ways of dealing with people who are going over the edge... Prayer - confession - meditation - counseling - books - guidance... etc. Mohammad created the first 'never let a crisis go to waste' horror by offering martyrdom for the mentally unstable. So yes, the killer was crazy, but his choices are connected to radical islam...

The hell with this JIHADIST WHACKO. The questions we and every person that are not MUSLIMS, is why did the Muslim community not report this “EVIL” man? I have no idea what the Muslim population of Australia is, but I’ll bet that out of those Muslims, no one in that community turned this man in to the law. Those Muslims that knew this man has just as much blood on their hands, as this IDIOT.
Yeah. But it's no longer necessary, I'm quite sure everybody knew as soon as they heard what was going on.
