The most amazing thing about this incident is that the cop was listening to loud Rap "music" in his car while on duty. Maybe its just me but does anybody else think there is a relationship between that copy listening to violent rap and acting like a maniac with the old man?

Also note that the LOUD rap music is interfering with what's being heard on the dashcam therefore making it less effective. Isn't there some police department rule against playing loud music while ON DUTY in a police care? Or against playing loud Rap which I don't consider music.

Anyway, I associate rap music with thugs and punks so it is weird to see a cop ON DUTY playing that horrible rap.

Loud music interfering with the audio recording may have been the POINT of the loud music...

I know a now-retired CHP officer who got a slight reprimand early in his career for keeping a portable radio in his cruiser so he could listen to talk radio.

Cop looks very young. the old man was agitated by something; most likely by being bothered by the cop.

This looks a situation where everybody was having a bad day and things went south from there.

since there is no audio to speak of; we are forced into a he said/he said situation.

you decide. I have.

I hate when I pull into a gas station and some car has that lousy rap music blasting away. However, it is always a punk car. Never a cop car.

There was an article about this on The Blaze and the cop stopped the car because he claimed it lacked a sticker. However, the old man said his dealer tag was exempt from the sticker. It turned out the old man was RIGHT.

well then the old man had the right to gripe. the cop reacted with the classic “I’m cop; you’ll do as I say routine.”

Fire the cop and strip him of his commission for the rest of his life. That should send a proper message to other cops that might want to do something like this. IMO

At the very beginning of the video you can tell it’s a dealers tag.

Which means the car was just purchased.

You must have a valid driver’s license for two years prior to making application. Applicants may test at the age of 20 with the understanding that they will be 21 prior to the enlisted date

Qualifications of State Patrol in OH:

United States citizen / Established Ohio residency and obtain a valid Ohio operator’s license prior to commission / 20 to 34 years of age / Valid operator’s license / High school diploma or GED

Qualifications of Dallas PD:

Be a U. S. citizen.
Be 19 ½ years of age (60 hours from an accredited college - minimum 2.0 GPA) or Be 21 - 44 years of age (45 hours from an accredited college - minimum 2.0 GPA)
Have a valid driver license.
Must not have committed any felony or Class A Misdemeanor.
Have no Class B Misdemeanor convictions within the last 10 years.
College credit requirement will be waived if you have three (3) years of active military service and an honorable discharge, as stipulated on your DD-214.
Physical Fitness
No worse than 20/100 vision rating in either eye, correctable to 20/20.
No pending traffic citations or court cases.
Must not have been convicted of three (3) or more hazardous traffic violations in the last twenty-four (24) months. (Does not include “Deferred Adjudication” or “Driver’s Safety Course.”)
TATTOO POLICY (Contact a recruiter regarding the tattoo policy to be eligible for hire with the Dallas Police Department)

LA Sheriff’s Dept:

AGE: At the time of filing, applicants must be at least 19 ½ years of age and be at least 20 years of age at the time of appointment.

CITIZENSHIP: Applicants must be U.S. citizens -OR- permanent resident aliens who are eligible for -AND- have applied for citizenship.*

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be in good general physical fitness and free from any medical conditions that would interfere with the satisfactory performance of the position of Deputy Sheriff Trainee.

So - LA Sheriff’s Dept., a Highway Patrol and a State Police selected at random have to have a GED - where Dallas PD wants college educated and/or military service applicants.

I remember a day where state LE only wanted 4 yr veterans or a 4 yr degree...but apparently dropped that requirement due to those employees later leaving for federal positions that required the same thing - but paid better.

I remember when LE was competitive - but apparently no one with a lick of sense in getting into it now a days...pretty sad...what ever that old man was doing and getting emotional about could have been handled differently...some people get emotional when pulled over...but not taking it personally aids alot...then again, I wasn’t there - don’t know what this vehicle’s registration issue was...or any prior history...but the rap music in the patrol car...it is not professional at all...

I suspect the old gentleman will, with the right lawyer, soon be enjoying a rather wealthy retirement! The taxpayers of the City of Victoria are likely to soon find a hefty tax increase, co-incidentally.

"This looks a situation where everybody was having a bad day and things went south from there."

Yeah, but the old guy don't have many of those (good or bad) days left.

Bouncing and old man off concrete and Tasering him might have or will shorten that time. For what, a simple expired inspection sticker.

Cop should have handled it differently, but he chose to go the "You Will Respect My Authoritah" route.

And really, what possible physical threat could an elderly man pose to this cop? I mean, besides his ego!

“It’s a Cop Thing; you wouldn’t understand” is what his defenders will say or some variation of it.

Yup. It's sad that FR has recently become quite the cheering section for authoritarian thugs.

They come and they go. Some of the more fervent JBT badge lickers do not bother to defend these days.

Why they gave it up, who knows? There is a new crop to to the deed now though. Never seems to change.

You have been around long enough to probably recall some of the fervent JBT defenders from years past.
