That’s all it was? A couple of feet?
For some reason I was thinking more like 15 feet or so.

"All the Kennedys were pigs."

I disagree. I think JFK was a decent man and had America's best interests at heart, whatever his foibles. However, that was when many Democrats had scruples which leaned towards the Founding Fathers original principles. Remember, it was southern Dems who helped put Reagan in the White House.

Now that just about all Dems have gone socialist and the GOPe has gone liberal, I fear this great experiment in self-determination is beyond repair.

Where’s Dianne Feinstein bloviating about the water torture poor Mary Jo had to endure at the drunken hands of Ted (ptoooey) Kennedy?

now where he deserves to be.

Mathematicians have concluded that the eternal flame on his grave will burn for another 60-plus years, due to the fact that it emanates from his liver.

JFK was a sailor, so you’re both correct. Yachtsman and PT boat commander, politician and president, not a saint, but just a man. America was changing. The Communist Party USA had been making headway in infiltrating and subverting American society and politics since its formation in 1919. The economic collapse of 1929 and the resulting depression gave communists the instability and dissatisfaction they needed to thrive and spread their dogma. The social welfare and social engineering projects of the New Deal were the foundation of the next phase in the transition from capitalism to communism.

Communism in America is evolutionary, not revolutionary, and a mixed economy consisting of capitalism and socialism was the next stepping stone. The Chairman of the CPUSA in the 1930s, William Z. Foster, outlined in his book Toward Soviet America the road-map, which is amplified and explained by W. Cleon Skousen in The Naked Communist(1958). Roosevelt began centralized economic planning and the social security safety net to alleviate the worst effects of the depression, without realizing that he was implementing the Communist Party playbook.

The good intentions of the concerned citizenry and social reformers was directed at mitigating or eliminating social injustice and inequality. Having internalized the principles of humanitarianism, social responsibility and charity in civics classes and religious teaching, Communist influenced teachers and union organizations perverted humanitarian impulses into humanism and social relativism. The American government, in the form of the FBI and Un-American Activities committees of Congress, attempted to expose the CPUSA threat in the 1950s, but communist sympathizers had already successfully infiltrated and were using the Democrat Party as their chosen vehicle for change.

Well intentioned Democrats became the apologists for Communist doctrine and centralized government operating welfare programs. The Great Society of LBJ furthered their aims of unseating dependence on charities for dependence on centralized government welfare. Democrats, liberals and socialists became allied with American Communists, what Lenin described as “useful idiots”. Lenin had used Russian democrats, liberals and socialists to gain power, and Stalin used that power to eliminate them with extreme prejudice.

The legacy of FDR is the change he wrought in American institutions and conducting World War II. The legacy of Harry S. Truman is in furthering those changes, ending WWII and the conduct of the Korean War. JFK, his brother RFK, and LBJ were imbued with high ideals and civic duty. Nonetheless, their legacy is one of political unrest, civil unrest accompanied by destructive riots, and entrance into the war being waged by the communist North Vietnamese Army(NVA) against the democratic Republic of Viet-Nam (RVN).

After Richard M. Nixon managed to negotiate a truce, withdraw American troops from Viet-Nam, repatriate American POWs, and end the draft, Edward Kennedy pursued Nixon and brought down his administration with an impeachment for perjury in the Watergate affair. Nixon was succeeded by Gerald Ford, the NVA broke the truce two years after American combat troops left the RVN, and a cabal in Congress lead by Edward Kennedy withheld permission for President Ford to assist the RVN in repelling Communist aggression. Unlike his older brothers, who confronted communist aggression in Cuba, Latin America and Viet-Nam, Edward Kennedy refused to oppose Communism and tacitly helped then defeat the RVN, and he actively helped them undermine American democracy here at home. A criminal conviction in the death of Mary Jo Kopechne would have prevented those events.

Now we are faced with two other family dynasties and a similar quandary. George Bush and George W. Bush rendered honorable service to this country, but Job Bush is as different from them as Edward Kennedy was from his brothers. The Clinton Family, along with their surrogate son Barrack Obama, have given us the humiliations of Mogadishu, Benghazi, the Arab Spring, Libya, Iraq, and Syria. Their ineffectual policies are reminiscent of Jimmy Carter’s dealing with the Iranian Revolution and American Embassy takeover. To elect either Job Bush or Hillary Clinton to the post of POTUS would advance the CPUSA agenda and guarantee the eventual demise of the great America experiment in democracy. May God help us if Chelsea Clinton Mezvinsky enters politics.
