“The [Nevada] Secretary of State has certified that the petitions submitted for an anti-gun initiative for the 2016 general election ballot are sufficient,” nraila.org reports. “This initiative was filed with the Secretary of State by the anti-gun ‘Nevadans for Background Checks,’ likely affiliated with ex-New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s ‘Everytown for Gun Safety’ and seeks to criminalize most private transfers and mandate background checks for nearly all gun transfers in Nevada, with very limited exceptions.” Here’s the official description from the group behind the push . . .

"The [Nevada] Secretary of State", soon to be departing dhimmiokkkrat ross miller, has certified that the petitions submitted for an anti-gun initiative for the 2016 general election ballot are sufficient". Moron this BS initiative that was sold as "closing the gun show loophole" and "It'll keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers" and "criminals will not have access to guns". After all, they aren't actually taking away guns from law abiding citizens. I know the 2015 NV session will be under way soon. Could there be some sort of legislation proposed that could pre-empt most of what's written in the initiative? Slightly "better" than I594 but still outside of the definition of the word "infringe" by my Funk and Wagnells.

Seems like the State has the sole authority to make laws in this regard - certainly not the general population.
This is called "mob rule".

It’s the way of the initiative and referendum process and there are quite a few states that allow this process. No doubt the nannies will be eyeing any state that has such a process. If the proposals were/are fully veted(whatever that means) and sold to the nolow info voters honestly that would be one thing. But we all know they are not. Semantics, just like the anti-gun messaging guide tells them to use, usually convinces mindless dolts that they are doing the “right” thing. The one in NV will not make law, it will amend/revise the current NRS statutes covering firearms. The legislature has the opportunity to act on it. Sadly, the only thing they can do is pass it as written into the NRS, or do nothing. If they don’t do anything, then it’s on the ballot.

This guy wants to be the King, and to have all the people serving him disarmed so he can dictate policy

Universal background checks, what a joke.

If you believe "universal" background checks will stop criminals from stealing firearms or exchanging firearms illegally, you are laughably naive. (that goes to you, any lib-lurkers reading this)

If you believe that kind of tripe, you probably believe that criminals obey drug laws too and only transact drug sales with a doctor's prescription at a licensed pharmacy. Of course we all know that is not true. There is no reason to believe firearms will be any different.

Colorado recently enacted "universal" background checks thanks to the idiot Hickelooper. He even admitted after the fact that it isn't a very good law. But he's so blinded by east coast big money and the liberal agenda he won't do anything to correct it. Oh, and that great law paid for by the easterners? Yeah, it returned a startling "no" a grand total of 10 times in it's first month. No idea how many of those few were even valid. There is a known false-positive rate that sometimes requires additional information and some effort to clear up. So the actual number of firearms sales even potentially rightfully blocked was something less than 10. Wow, that was worth it...

So-called "universal" background checks are nothing of the sort. They are onerous, feel-good but do-nothing pieces of legislative excrement. They are not harmless, they cause firearms enthusiasts to incur additional costs at virtually zero gain in public or personal safety.

What scared me was that the editorial board of the lib reno gazette journal even had a half page opinion piece the other days saying this UBC initiative was a waste of time and money. I coulda sworn they’d been hacked and somehow the paper got printed with that in it. I was even waiting for the “BUT”, but it never came. Weird.

One does not commit a crime with a gun you lawfully own unless it is a crime of passion. Against which no background check will ever prevent a thing.
