I wonder if they vote for politicians who enable vandalization. If so, they got what they deserve.

Take it up with Valerie Jarrett. She is the one who decided that the National Guard should stand down.

I always assumed the reason more owners didn’t arm themselves and protect their property was they were threatened by the cops, the DA, or the Just-us department. Perhaps they didn’t defend themselves because they honestly expected the government to do it.

Amen to that.

I suppose the leftist argument will be that the government will fund the rebuilding of burned down businesses. Me, I think defending property is cheaper than replacing it, but I’m not in the business of spending other peoples’ money.

What a harsh lesson to learn. Better late than never though. Let the local Tea Party surge!

The first time around, I can understand them getting caught by surprise. But the Government clearly intimated that there would be little protection for property owners. They should have gotten the message and prepared or retreated to a safer location. I wouldn’t open a business in that town. I’d leave if I had one.

Guess what. They probably won’t be there when you need them.

In the article it states that Nixon didn’t want another Kent state and had 1500 National Guard boots ready. Thing is, if they were vets they are already trained NOT to shoot under the current rules of engagement.

I would sue Nixon for declaring a state of emergency thus giving a false sense of security because the city should have been shut down along with traffic and then for promising that there would be security but doing nothing.

Do you have a source about Jarrett? It sounds like her but would like a source for parents of SEALs.

Thanks for doing my homework, I stand guilty of not reading the article completely.

Re: suing Nixon...completely agree.

There was a report that Gov. Nixon had a conversation with Valerie Jarrett which was why he did not have the National Guard do anything on the first night (right after the decision of the Grand Jury was made public). It was discussed here on FR.

It would be a clever T-shirt design showing Barack as the skunk in the middle of the road emitting fumes and all around complaining “I can’t breathe.”

We have an extremely talented artist on FR. We'll see if he likes the idea.

Give me a break! They should have all been standing inside their stores with shotguns and 44mags and shot the first ones through the door or the broken window! That would have also saved an untold number of hard-earned American dollars in the rest of the country as well.

Here’s a flash for the “minorities” of Ferguson: You are the government and you tied the hands of the police force a long time ago with your stupid racist chants and marches on behalf of your criminal heroes. Good for you! You’re reaping what you sowed! Too bad the rest of us have to endure the consequences as well.

Nothing has changed. They’re already whining for someone to come and clean up the mess, just like always.
Rant not over! Not by a long shot!

You don't have to be real smart to see what happened in Watts, and in the Rodney King days....

I think I saw pic's of Korean store owners standing on roof tops with shotguns...protecting THEIR properties...

Not sure how these Ferguson folks thought...but I'd have been pro-active.
