First there was Fergusson, where James Brown, a black teenager, stole a few Cigarillos. He was punished by death. Darren Wilson, a trigger-happy white cop, didn't have to stand trial for the murder. a grand jury let him off the hook. The resulting unrest in the community was severe. Fourteen businesses were looted and torched, and 3,000 national guardsmen were brought in to quiet things down.
Then another minor offense, selling cigarettes without tax stamps on the packages was punished by death at the hands of a white officer. He used a chokehold, forbidden by New York City Police Department rules, to strangle a black who was not resisting arrest. A grand jury refused to indict officer Daniel Pantaleo for the murder of a black.
In Cleveland a very young black girl reached in her pocket for a pill bottle, and was shot dead by a white officer. This cop said he thought she was reaching for a gun! He had been fired from another police department, but had been hired without proper background checking.
Eighty-five percent of cars stopped have black drivers. It sure looks like racial profiling of one segment of our population. On a TV interview a black teen said he is stopped about 10 times per week while walking down the sidewalks of New York City.
Four-star general and former Secretary of State Colin Powell says he has been racially profiled many times. That is outrageous to the Nth degree! When someone that prominent is stopped and frisked, what does that say about our system of law enforcement?
A black friend from Hyannis tells me his family and friends are routinely pulled over by state and local police. It s shocking to think there are red-neck officers here on Cape Cod.
Equal justice for all is a constitutional right. It is obvious in today's America that right is not being observed. I trust that all thinking whites stand with the black community in seeking fairness for all.
Will the day ever come when all Americans are color-blind?

“Eighty-five percent of cars stopped have black drivers”
very doubtful
LOL!
“On a TV interview a black teen said he is stopped about 10 times per week while walking down the sidewalks of New York City. “
a very leftist, Democrat-dominated city
I stopped reading when I read “James Brown”. Was the rest of the op-ed just as bad?

He did the cape routine...
The revolution is the issue. They’ll just make stuff up (and kill people) to get the issue advanced.
The author is not content with twisting just a few facts. He wants to twist them all :-(
By the way, the name of the city in his version of truth has an extra 's' in it. Obviously that does not matter to someone who never paid attention to facts and never bothered to read the GJ materials; to someone who, by his education and way of life, may be commenting on events and processes that he has no direct knowledge of. When I need an assessment of a street thug I'd rather trust an opinion of an LEO who works that beat instead of an opinion of some elite artist who lives 1,000 miles away, in a world where paints and brushes are the most dangerous objects. Even an opinion of *another street thug* would have been more informative.
Musta been singing “Doing It To The Death”
