The Philadelphia chapter of the NAACP has elected a new president.
Minister Rodney Muhammad has led North Philadelphia's Mosque Number 12 of the Nation of Islam for 23 years. He's moving from first vice president to president of the local NAACP chapter.
In his new role, he said he would focus on bringing jobs to the city.
"Traditionally, we may have stood outside of somebody's business and demanded that people of color have their fair share of jobs," he said. "But I think today we got to think a little beyond that, and think about how to sit down with people and find ways to help create some of the jobs."
Muhammad said public safety and gentrification were among his other main concerns.
"Segregation is not here shutting us out, but gentrification is here pushing us out," he said. "We want to see a harmonious city and everything, but it's not harmonious when people who are weak, vulnerable, voiceless, non-competitive and defenseless are just being pushed out of neighborhoods."
Muhammad also said he wants to persuade more millennials to join the NAACP and hold forums aimed at improving the relationship between police officers and civilians.
Muhammad is replacing Jerry Mondesire, who was forced out by the national NAACP amid questions of fiscal mismanagement. Muhammad called the turn of events "unfortunate," but he said Mondesire helped many people who were victims of discrimination.
They keep digging deeper and deeper. Soon the hole will close over them.

We will see more and more of this.
Black Muslim “Nation” types taking the front of this movement on the streets now.
At least, we might someday see their reaction when they realize how real Muslims view them.

Just another black (privileged) group that takes money for whatever reason! Seems to be the idea these days for black leaders. Speeches for lots of money (or else) or blackmail of business, all is fair when dealing with blacks these days.
This is the future it seems with Jackson, Sharpton, etc. These are the leaders that are keeping them in poverty.

Back in the days when the NAACP was a noble organization that actually did some good. But since LBJ’s Great Society debacle, like the rest of the civil rights movement it degenerated in to a dangerous farce.
So let’s see if I got this right, Blacks who convert to islam do so because Christianity is the religion of those who owned their ancestors. So they gravitate to a religion of those who not only oned their ancestors, but sold them as well, and still do in some areas. Makes perfect sense SMH

Nothing says ‘invest here’ like a Nation of Islam ward boss.
Ferguson and other black cities now in ruins due to riots have established that NO black community is safe to start a business in.
If the area isn't lily white, (including the surrounding cities) then it's just not safe to risk the investment.
And the blacks have done this to themselves. Kind of hard for us to feel bad about their "food deserts" when they are the ones who pulled all the plants up by the roots and fouled the water supply.
